There's a lot of truth in that, lol. Though to be fair, Kevin James is funny, and he did have one of the most popular sitcoms that lasted nearly a decade (The King of Queens) and is currently starring in a new one called "Kevin Can't Wait". But,yeah, I used to wonder why unattractive dudes of any size always get to star in these TV shows where they get all the hot women, and yeah, it's definitely a wish-fulfillment thing on the part of the male creators (especially the ones who weren't popular in high school and were basically the nerds and geeks.) That being said, I don't think Corden's unattractive at all, and he does seem to have lost some weight in the year, definitely. He is funny, though, depending on what he's talking about or who he's making fun of on the show, though. And he actually seems to have a decent singing voice, and I love the rap battles he has with some of his guests---that's usually the best parts of the show most of the time. He definitely acts what I would call somewhat gay when it comes to how he reacts to other men on the show (always saying how he finds certain male guests on the show attractive) but I also think that's because he's European, and Europeans definitely relate to each other differently from Americans----men in parts of Europe have no problem expressing feelings for each other openly, like with kissing and stuff (which is how Italian men show affection to each other) without all of the hangups about it we have here in the U.S. But,anyway, who cares? I've come to like the late show in all its quirkyness and goofiness that it has to offer, as well as Reg the bandleader, who's just wonderfully weird and quirky as hell himself (and an extremely talented singer/musician---when the hell is he finally going to put a CD out, dang it? I love his hair---especially when he had it out in an Afro, lol.) The fact that the cast didn't look very Hollywood was refreshing----not every cast on every show has to look like a bunch of supermodels with perfect skin and teeth. How is it a "woman's lib" series? In real life, it was two female CIA agents who finally caught Ames. Get over yourself about that---your hangups about anything that dosen't completely center around men is ridiculous (which the majority of films of TV usually do.) The blond woman was real-life CIA agent Sandra Grimes, who also helped hunt down Ames. BTW, The Assets is now streaming on Netflix, for anyone who's interested. And there was nothing "histronic" about how she was played, either. Yeah, Temple was really good in BLACK MASS, despite her small role. I had hoped that her willingness to do nude scenes wouldn't limit her to roles where she was required to do that only that and nothing more, and thankfully, it hasn't so far--she's capable of far more than that. Seriously? She looks nothing like JLaw whatsoever---I've always thought that she has her own unique look,period---she's not the "poor man's anything" or anybody's knockoff, she's a pretty good actress in her own right. Yeah, she's a good actress----I've liked her ever since I first saw her in the film DIRTY GIRL--which is really good if you haven't seen it yet. She does some very interesting work, and seems to flourish in indie films. Kinda underrated, even though I get the impression that she's never been interested in being the "next big thing" so to speak---she's been in quite a diverse range of films, though. I didn't have a problem with the film at all---but then, I've been watching non-linear movies for years (a lot of indie and foreign films) and enjoyed them, so that's why I enjoyed this. If people had actually done a little research on the film before seeing it, they would have found out that it's not a traditional Hollywood film to begin with, because it's not even a Hollywood film---it's a British film through and through (A British and French co-production, actually.) I thought the film was pretty straightforward in the sense that it's basically about thousands of soldiers trapped by their enemies on a beach, and trying desperately to get off of it as they're being picked off from time to time by said enemies. It's not your typical predictable by-the-numbers war film that you're seen 10,000 times before, which was refreshing. I think some people probably didn't like it because it wasn't like that, which is too bad--you'd think folks would want to see something different every now and then. BTW, Midnight, Texas will be shown next week on both Monday and Tuesday at ten, for anyone who dosen't want to miss any part of it. It's got vampires, witches, a fallen angel, a talking cat that talks occasionally---sometimes demons and other assorted weird creatures show up and wind up forcing one of the main characters into some kind of desperate, heated battle for their lives. So there's always something going on each week that reveals a new dimension to one of more of the characters. Please---this pioneerwhosis is just a troll. Anytime someone dosen't even bother to tell why they didn't like the show, they're either full of s*** or a troll, or both. And that's all this troll is. I enjoy anything that has a really strong good vs. evil component, with the supernatural thrown in. I also like the hot dusty Texas setting, and the fact that just about most of the main characters kick a** Southern-style wise. Plus, the whole idea behind the existence of this town being a haven/hideout/safe place for misfits with super powers is also intriguing,too---I liked how that's set up. So,yeah, I've been liking this show so far, and been seeing it every week. Surprised that there's not a lot more comments here about it, because it's actually really good. Plus there's not too many shows featuring a gay couple as an angel and a demon who have been together for centuries, lol. There's nothing "embarrassing" about being poor---it's just something to work your way up from. I think that, thanks to social media, people know way too much about other's business today, for real. And that' sonly because people are all too willing to put WAY too much of said personal business online. I remember reading about this flick in a TV Guide book (remember those) there was an interview with the young actress who starred in it. I'm not sure if I ever exactly saw it, but I used to watch a whole bunch of Christmas specials as a kid--live-action and animated. Keelai: LOL! I wouldn't be surprised at that! I'll like to see if anything's actually going to change under Kelly, the ex-general. He just looks like he's not putting up with any bull**** from anybody, so let's see how that works out. You're welcome, lol! Hope you enjoyed it even though I'm saying this 3 years later, lol! @Kullerdben Obviously, nobody had warned you and your classmates about the freewheeling craziness/insanity/openess of 1970s films---which is why they're so much damn fun to watch. Glad you had a good time watching it,though, lol. I read that the actress who did the scene with Mario didn't even want to do it, and that other folks tired to talk Van Peebles out of doing in the first place. To be fair, little Mario wasn't even in bed with the woman---she basically just acted out the scene--he was never actually in bed with her, but I still thought the scene was unnecessary and just plain stupid. I mean, what the hell kind of father would put their own child in such a scene in a movie? Seriously---these days, he would have the kids taken from him on child abuse charges. And,yeah the movie is historical and all, but it's still horrible, still looks like it was edited with a damn chainsaw or by somebody who was smoking a little too much of something during the editing process. I saw it early last year at an arthouse theatre---during Black History Month, lol. I'd seen it already years ago, so I knew how it was going to be---I just wanted to see other folks' reaction to it,period. I'd recommend BADASSSSS! which is Mario Van Peebles' story on how his dad got the film together---it's actually better than SWEET SWEETBACK, even though the former is crazy as hell and does have its (slight) charms---like when the cops jump on a guy they think is Sweetback, and it turns out to be this goofy-a** white guy wearing Sweetback's clothes. That was kind of funny. I'm going to get the soundtrack, since I really liked "Sweetback's Theme" the gently funky jazz instrumental that plays throughout half of the second part of the film. kobrickmama: What a dumb $@* thing to say. I haven't seen this film, but for you to say a black guy dosen't belong in the movie simply because he's black, that's just some dumb and racist bull****. So according to you,no black person should ever be in a film with white people. This is the 21st century, you idiot. Black people can be wherever the hell they want. You don't know who the hell would hang out with who in real life, so just shut your ignorant behind the hell up. Just because black people don't exist in your world, you just had to go and say some stupid s*** like this. MissMargoChanning: Once again, no history is being "swept away" here, and it has nothing to do with "political correctness". It has more to do with the fact that people need to stop pretending that the Confederate were heroes, because they never were---plain and damn simple--they were fckg traitors. The myth of them being heroes has only been kept alive to try and preserve any justifications for white supremacy. Read the articles I posted, in which there are some very good cases made for removing these statues. "Why doesn't everyone just get over themselves and concentrate on the REAL PROBLEMS of the day?" You need to ask that same damn question to all those neo-nazi white supremacist thugs who came from all over the country to protest the removal of a statue in some little Southern town probably half of them weren't even from; to loudly threaten anyone who challenged them in any way,and with weapons; and who acted like just being white gave them the fckg right to do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted. What bothered them so damn much about a simple statue that they had to do what they did? Ask THEM that. Ask them why these statues are such a big damn deal to THEM. Tell THEM to get the fck over themselves, and that they're aren't superior to anyone on earth simply because they're white. They're the ones who started all that s*** to begin with. Tell them to fckg grow up and find some real problems to deal with. On top of that, tell Southerners that they lost the damn Civil War and to get the hell over th,too. BTW, Stonewall Jackson's great-great-grandsons want his statue to go,too. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2017/08/stonewall_jackson_s_grandsons_the_monuments_must_go.html In fact, some of Lee's, Jackson's, and Jefferson Davis's descendants made it clear that the statues should be taken down and put in a museum--they don't have a problem with it at all: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2017/08
