It's not like any of those other films--all of whom I like, except for COFFY--and they are all REAL films,BTW---this is a hardcore,realistic, serious drama that looks at corruption within the police department and the criminal element in N.Y. in the early '70's. The 3 brothers robbing the Mafia is only the tip of the iceberg---it gets into all the complications,rivalries and racial tensions running beneath the surface that get set off as a result of that. A complex,action-packed excellent film that tends to get overlooked as the '70's classic it is because it's gotten dumped under the "blaxsploitation" label---just got it myself--and very much worth watching---dark,tough, and gritty with a brutal, downbeat '70's ending, of course.
