I totally agree that Kate caused the divorce. It doesn't seem like Toby really did anything wrong. Like you say, the San Francisco job was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. He even gave the once in a lifetime opportunity up to make her happy and that wasn't enough. She basically wanted to leave him because he got his life together. I guess the big question is, when he said the job offer in LA didn't pay as well, was he factoring in the exorbitant living/travel expenses that he has living in San Francisco? The apartment in San Francisco has to be at least 3K a month plus utilities. Plus, the round-trip flights every weekend have got to be $150-$200 each. This all adds up to around 50K per year. That is after tax dollars, so he would need to make around 65-70K extra per year to afford this. Did the job in LA really pay over 70K less? It seems pretty extreme. I agree. It started out ok but after we learned about his past it got boring for me. I agree. She was drunk all the time, had a sexual relationship with every man that she met (and didn't try to hide it from her husband or anyone else), and she was nowhere near as involved in raising the daughter as the husband was. It's impossible to imagine how the two of them ever "fell in love" and got married in the first place. She had to have married him for the money. I noticed this too. Some people will call you racist for pointing this out, but I think it is a fair point and worth discussing. I don't think the intent of the film makers was to make only the white people be the villains. I think it has more to do with the current political climate and the studio being afraid to cast a black person in a negative role. If the gang at the beginning was all black or if there were corrupt cops who were black, people would complain that the film was racist. As it is, the film has received complaints because the victim in the subway scene was Asian. The studios are being super careful not to offend anyone, so that is why the film was cast this way. Pretty good list. I preferred The Batman over Batman Returns, but generally I agree with most of your list. I definitely agree on number one! Dark Knight Rises will always be my favorite. I know a lot of people will disagree, but I love that movie. I didn't understand the point of the scene. Batman knew where the Penguin worked and probably had a general idea where he lived. Why didn't he let Penguin drive off then catch up to him later? This could have spared countless people from dying/being injured in car accidents and from the explosion. I thought it was weird that he was still standing there when the timer was almost down to zero. Also, he was unconscious, and the police brought him to the station, but nobody took his mask off! There seems to be a huge number of people who really want him for the job, but why? He is a likable guy and I am sure that he would do a good job. But why are people so adamant that it must be him? No idea. I just remember her watching the commercial at the beginning which I assume was her inspiration for doing it. I have no idea how she organized it or what purpose she thought it would serve. Your understanding of life in England back in the 1980s is inaccurate. Maybe so, but the writers of this show's understanding of life in England in the 1980s is even more inaccurate. I'll probably watch, though I have no idea why. Nothing either candidate says or doesn't say tonight will sway my vote. Of course England has had many non-white people living there for a long time. It just isn't realistic that the manor would have had the amount of diversity that the show depicted given the location and time period. The British countryside simply was not that diverse at that time. I don't doubt that the British were more tolerant than Americans towards gay/lesbian people back then. However, it still took almost thirty years after the setting of the show for gay/lesbian people to obtain equal rights in England. So somebody over there was prejudiced against them. In the show a wealthy family's au pair was in a same sex relationship with their gardener and the two slept together in a room right down the hall from the kids. In general, this would not have been considered acceptable at this time/place. The writers took modern attitudes and inserted them into another time/place. It is a fictional story. The part about ghosts isn't supposed to be realistic. Still, in any story there are parts that need to be realistic in order to create the atmosphere. They chose the English countryside in the 1980s as the setting. The characters and attitudes should reflect that place and time period. What is the purpose of setting a show during a certain time period if the characters look and act nothing like they would have at that time? If the characters were using smart phones and other technologies that didn't exist at the time would that be okay? Because ghosts aren't real then nothing in the show has to be based on reality? It really isn't politics as usual. I don't remember any candidate in the past who constantly brought up conspiracy theories about their opponents kid. Ivanka and Don Jr were far more involved in their father's campaign than Hunter is with Joe. That is why they received so much media attention in 2016. I don't recall Hilary or Joe Biden ever saying anything bad about them. Combination of #1, #4, and #6. #1 I could see him being a political commentator similar to what Rush and Hannity do. Maybe Sirius/XM will pay him big money to host a show. His hardcore base would be happy to pay the monthly subscription fee to hear him every day going off on conspiracy theories and other nonsense. #4 If he were to lose I wouldn't be surprised if he resigned before the inauguration. He would say that the election was rigged and that he was resigning in protest. I'm not sure if Pence would pardon him though. Pence would only be president for a month or two. I'm not sure if he would want that to be the only thing he is remembered for. Also, a lot of the charges against Trump are in State courts so Pence couldn't help there. #6 I think that is inevitable. I don't think he really cares about that though. He's always had a million law suits going on so I think he is prepared for more. He could use this as talking points on his show. From the interview he gave it sounds like he is a hardcore Trumpist. He might have done it just because he loves Trump so much. So was Rudy colluding with Russians here or what? Obviously Hunter didn't actually drop off three unsecured laptops at a random repair shop thousands of miles from where he lives. Somebody hacked Hunter's laptop or icloud account and then came up with the repair shop idea as a way to get the info to Rudy indirectly. It's impossible to believe that Rudy wasn't in on the whole thing. Nobody cares about the Hunter Biden stuff (besides hardcore Trumpists). That New York Post story is obviously not accurate. The Hunter Biden stuff is just another Trump misinformation tactic. Also, Hunter is not running for President. Biden was asked about Supreme Court packing. He said he will have an answer before the election. I believe he said he would answer after the current Supreme Court Justice vote concludes. That could be seen as a dodge, but what happens with this nomination would obviously influence any decision that he would make afterwards. That sounds like a great computer repair service. You drop off a water damaged laptop to have it fixed and the guy copies your hard drive and gives it to a lawyer. Is that even legal?
