Actors will say anything to sell a book or just to get attention. Maybe they did or maybe they did not. I'd believe Cheech Marin who said that he and Chong did their movies pretty much sober to get things done on time. Companies get very unhappy when budgets run over. And you say Mann has issues? Look in the mirror. Your life and my life for that matter are very tiny samples of what takes place in the world. Was Mann being obnoxious? Perhaps but who knows what brought him to that point. Maybe people constantly correcting him? Factors such as pronunciation, regional dialect, and hearing are important as to how others perceive what is being said. Rye and white have an emphasis on the sound of the letter "I." Spoken like a true Clinton sycophant. Unless the focus has greatly changed with Hillary with her ambitions or launching Chelsea politically I would think that Hillary would use all the power at her disposal to keep Bill out of the news. I still think she is a power broker with the Democrats. I think that people do not understand the lust for risk taking that Rocky had. I think in Rocky's case as well with many people it is rooted in not having a love in merely being alive. That there is an exhilaration in taking a chance and having it pay off. Like a daredevil jumping a gorge. Sure there is great care in figuring out the necessary physics of jumping a gorge but there is still that chance that things do not work out. Most gamblers I suspect hit a casino due to chance versus thinking they have a system to beat the house with. I actually knew a Rochelle while in college so on that basis Rochelle, Rochelle. Roll eyes. Over 20 years ago the federal government pretty well neutered interest rates to goose the economy along. One of the side effects of the internet is less need for brick and mortar retail so less real estate development for that unlike previous times. Younger people are moving back to the city in part to save money on transportation so less urban sprawl because fewer housing developments are being done. All these factors resulted in a funnel effect in terms of money being pushed into the stock market. The largest generations period namely the Baby Boomers and Generation X are in the process of going from net investors to net sellers. This will serve to push stock prices down. Government will try to print money to offset this but that will create inflation such as we are seeing now. It also creates more questions of fairness as "why for thee and not for me" in terms of bailouts. I'd argue that the last few federal bailouts dating back to the dot.com bust were done to save the investments of a small portion of people in this country. Most people here still have no direct investment in the DOW, NASDAQ, etc.. At some point there will be a day of recogning as all the federal stimulus will not keep stocks pumped up as there will not be enough private money to catch all the pins the markets are juggling now. The whole movie makes the USN look bad. Even with the ridiculous stand down order a band of mercs should not have been able to overcome a complement of a battleship's crew. At the very least the mercs should have taken heavy losses. Quality marriage material is much harder to find today versus then. It's not even a matter of passing up good looks. Most of the women I came across in college were scary in terms of character. I'm sure that women are seeing the same problem in men. High school is probably better today as fewer people rush into marriage as most simply are not prepared mentally for it. I beg to differ. While it has called Christianity into question from time to time it has underlying Christian underpinnings. Kirk finds cold suicide as reprehensible in A Taste of Armageddon. Quite a number of cultures accept suicide and especially those of a non-Western or non-Christian nature. Even an episode such as The Return of the Archons leaves the door open for a positive belief asking for the right to be not soulless in practice. That the greatest flaw of Landru was the computer could not use the creator's soul to inspire the population of Beta III. I think Beta III is at the extreme end of things as here on Earth the Catholic Church operated with the blessing of the nations who were willing to host it. In The Ultimate Computer Dr Daystrom talks to M5 about murder being against the laws of God and man. It took me 15 years from its initial release until I saw it. My parents were not much to want to go see movies then college and the work world happened. Don't feel bad for me as my parents treated me to other things most of my peers never got such as a motorcycle when I was in my very early teens. I don't have a problem with it. A male mummy stuck because Boris Karloff was the perfect choice to portray such a character for the 1930's version. I think that Capra picked 8,000 dollars as a sum that would have been out of reach for the time and place by conventional standards. Most homes especially in the Bailey development were worth a quarter of that. George's home maybe half but who had ready cash in the community to be a ready buyer? Most towns were closer to the Depression in terms of economic means than the recovery that came with WWII. Industrialists and a few others reaped the financial benefits of WWII while most others saw a bump in weekly pay until the war was winding down in 1945. The post boom was just getting started with opportunities to be small business owners such as new automobile dealerships and insurance agencies. There were no such people handy at the moment to help George. The assistant would have been ignored in favor of Potter. Another life lesson in that money often has the scales of justice tipped heavily in its favor. That aside Potter probably has dirt on the assistant to keep him in line. Editing can influence quality. Probably 15-20 hours of material filmed for each half hour episode. A lot of choices to be made as to what viewers see and what get thrown out. Easier to do when making what amounts to a docu-drama such as what Jack Webb did with Dragnet and Adam-12. Harder when you are trying to get thought provoking material out. It helped the comic book industry in general. The show made it OK for people older than being a preteen to read comic books. I would guess that the show in part spurred toy collecting as well. We all know that the witch lives in Chappaqua, NY. Call off the hunt. Yep. Rivals that Nicky suspected were in LV to horn in on Nicky's action. Gangsters were always trying to take away rackets that other gangsters were running. Not only does Kimball sleep but he stops to take a pee when we see him in the local hospital as he walks away from the restroom and the deputy hints to him to zip up his fly. Can't include all the material filmed as it would be hundreds of hours of footage. Some producers are better than others as to creating a sense of time passing. Some such as Star Trek's Gene Roddenberry preferred highlighting dramatic scenes over building a story at times. Anyways, unless stopping to eat, go to the rest room, or taking a nap advances a story there is little point in showing those moments.
