The show helped save the comics

Always thought this was cool.

The massive popularity of the show helped save the Batman comic books.

Readership was way down so DC was going to stop publishing them. But when the show became a hit, readership skyrocketed.

reply

It helped the comic book industry in general. The show made it OK for people older than being a preteen to read comic books. I would guess that the show in part spurred toy collecting as well.

'I would guess that the show in part spurred toy collecting as well.'

*Ahem*. Collectibles.

NIB happened by accident years ago bringing on the desire to buy something with the intent of never opening the package. Grandma would buy something for a grandchild then pass away with the item sitting in the closet for decades until grandpa passed away. The kids come to the house to clean it out and then find this gem from decades ago never opened. Not just with super hero themed items but Lionel railroad and Tonka construction material. But just about always back then toys were bought to presented at the next birthday or Christmas gathering and then played with. I grew up during the 1970's so I have some idea as to the general attitude was then.

reply

Yes, so did I. I remember toys I had back then. I occasionally see some on TV programmes and what they're worth now. I think to myself 'Why haven't I still got that? And why did I ever take it out of the box?' Which, of course, is daft. I was a kid and they were bought for me to play with (shock!).
