It's just a fun, light hearted horrorish popcorn flick. Just watch without the expectations of it being the next great horror movie and just enjoy the ride. Very satisfied with Laurie's death scene. I always thought it was funny when Michael gave the knife he finally killed Laurie with to the guy in the clown mask who was obsessed with serial killers. The kid from Rookie of the Year and American Pie gets killed. The red head in the tunnel. The multiple endings on the DVD. It's just a great time capsule for where we were at that time as far as technology and entertainment. I would totally have believed a website would record a bunch of kids spending the night in a serial killers house. Mostly guilty by association, but also the people at the pool didn't know if they knew what was going on before hand. As far as they know it was all a set up and they were in on it. Remember they reacted to Squints in the water first, then Wendy responded. And when they pulled him out, they were surrounding Wendy and Squints and "acting" very concerned. 1) They were all amateurs. These kids not pros. No one was getting paid 2) The Sandlot kids were his friends. 3) They were better, and won the game. 4) The fancy kids were douchbags. He probably played in the sandlot with his friends, until high school and then he joined his schools team. After he dominated there, either he got a college scholarship, or was drafted into the pros, and worked his way up the minors to the big club. I think Nolte has said that Knight was his inspiration for Coach Bell. In particular for his tirade in the locker room at the beginning, and his rantings during the game. But also some of Bobby Knights better qualities, like his dedication to keeping his program clean, and making sure his players made the grade in school. Ironically, not only was Bobby Knight in this movie, but he legitamitley got hot at the refs during the game, and was in a shouting match with a reporter for they started filming. It might have actually been the opposite. Nicky's failed car bombing of Ace, may have saved Ace's life from the bosses. We don't know for fact that it was Nicky, but everything indicates that it was. We also don't know for sure what the bosses plans for Ace were at that point. It's very possible that they did want him killed, even though he was very high profile in Vegas. They had killed Andy Stone who was well known and considered a legit business man. But Nicky jumped the gun, and tried to kill Ace without getting permission from the bosses, which technically he didn't need to get since he was a made guy and Ace wasn't. But since Nicky's attempt failed, and police and newspapers were reporting it, two things would happen. First Ace would hire private security, and not go out in public nearly as much, thus making future hits more difficult. And second, it would draw way to much attention if a second attempt was made on him. So in order to make Ace feel safer, and not to turn states evidence, they came up with "other plans" for him. As others have said, greed and paranoia. But also consider everything that happened to him in the 25 years this movie covers. Not only had he committed multiple murders, but has seen countless others come and go, including friends. He had several years in prison, and was probably desperate to avoid ever going back, especially on account of someone on his crew doing something really stupid, like driving a new Cadillac a week after Lufthansa. Then Tommy getting whacked was the last straw for him. Aside from losing one of the few people he really trusted, the way it was done, with Tommy being tricked into thinking he was getting made was too much for him. Tommy being made would have been a huge opportunity for all of them to make huge money. But instead of that happening, he got a sharp reminder that his life was always in the hands of much more powerful men, and he was only a good as his last envelope to Paulie. Also, even if word got out that they were building a dinosaur theme park, it's doubtful that anyone would think they had actual cloned dinosaurs there. Most people would probably think its just another educational park about dinosaurs, with maybe some cheap animatronics standing around. When Apollo said "There can be no rematch." it was immediately after the final bell, and before the results were known. He probably assumed at that point that he would win by unanimous decision, and everyone would agree with that decision. Then when it was announced as a split decision, he realized that not only had one of the professional judges thought he lost the fight, but that a lot of people who watched would also think so. Then as time went on and the hate mail and sportscasters kept questioning who really should have won, his pride finally got the better of him. He knew the only way to put the matter to bed would be to have rematch, and this time actually take Rocky seriously. It's not uncommon for someone to have an easier time understanding a language than speaking it. Father Carmine could probably speak decent enough English, but is more comfortable in his native language of Italian. And he knew that Rocky understood enough Italian that he would know what he was saying. Whether Rocky could speak any Italian is unknown, but he probably grew around it enough that he could pick up most of what someone was saying. Also it's not like either of them were saying anything that surprising. Even if you didn't speak either language, you could probably have a good sense of what was going in the conversation. "Almost"???????? There were examples of Tony using "layers" to protect himself from being linked to murders. For the Rusty hit, Tony ordered Chris, Chris went to his junkie friend, the junkie contacted the Italian guys, who did the job and immediately got on a plane back to Italy. Junior also protected himself when he ordered the hit on Tony. He told Mikey, who went to the guy who he later killed, and that guy got the two guys who attempted to kill Tony. Most of the time, they were just a smaller family, so it was harder for them to put extra layers between themselves and murders. Other times, the hits were more personal for them, like with Big Pussy or Tony B. Possible, but most likely he was just passed over by younger guys who the boss thought was a better fit to sit in the big chair. We don't know how long Old Man Dimeo was the boss for when he went to prison, or how old he actually was. He may have been older than Junior. And when he passed over several older capos and named Jackie Sr. as Street boss while he was in prison, all Junior could do was shut up and accept it. It wasn't so much bargaining as it was begging for permission. And Viggo approved it part because he figured it would be to his benefit if Janos was there to keep an eye on Dana. It sounds like at the very least she'll get nominated. This is the kind of role Hollywood would love to reward, especially now. I'm fine with this, as long as she doesn't start popping up everywhere with Harry and Megan. Regardless of how you feel about her, she was a victim. She was betrayed by her husband and his reckless behavior. That being said there were two things the show did that I thought put her in a more sympathetic light than she actually deserved. First her crying in front of Bill, or anybody for that matter is not something I could ever see her doing in this spot. Maybe a little angry cry as she was screaming at him, but not the actual wailing she did. After he left the room and she was alone maybe, but she wouldn't let Bill she her so vulnerable. And second she wasn't mad enough about what it did to her political future. She did talk about them being a team, which did suggest their marriage was as much about political gain as it was love. And how he just sank both of their futures. But really she was only talking about her own. She had the dream of being the first female president, but she was smart enough to know that she needed him with her to achieve that. But now he was toxic to everyone around him. Both of her presidential campaigns and Al Gores were negatively affected by their associations with Bill Clinton. Something the show did well was make it uncertain how much she truly knew about her husbands past infidelities. Most likely she knew that some of them were true, but ultimately they were harmless to her or their future, and no matter how much their enemies tried to use them, nothing would ever stick. Monica was different though. I think she truly 100% believed it was completely untrue. Maybe it was the fact that Bill was willing to give a deposition and deny it. Or that Monica herself signed the affidavit. But then it could have been that she wanted to believe that no matter how much of a philanderer her husband may have been, even he had limits. And an intern who was barely older than his own daughter would have been over the line for him. I think his main motive was to squeeze money out of his family to pay off his gambling debts. Cool may have been an added bonus for him to garner more sympathy, especially when it became a possibility that he would be killed. The whole family may not have known exactly what it was that he wanted or what was actually going on, but they knew he needed or wanted something. The father deep down knew it too, but was either in denial about it, or liked the idea that his son wanted to strike it rich and not be a 9-5 guy. It wasn't until he caught Larry trying to sell his car that he realized his son would betray even him. Yoda did say Luke was too old. Though I always wondered if it wasn't Anakin's age that really concerned the council as much his fear. They might have just figured it would be an easier excuse for Qui-Gon to accept. <blockquote> Nothing was ever discussed or filmed </blockquote> Actually it was discussed. Twice. I posed the question over whether one of the story tellers was reliable. <blockquote> Ralph simply followed the script he was given </blockquote> No, Ralph is a character who was telling a story, that may or may not have been accurate. Joe Pantoliano, the actor who played Ralph, was following the script. If you fire him, he can tell the story to as much as he wants to whomever he wants, and thus destroy Amity's tourist business once and for all. If you re-hire him and properly laude him for his service and bravery, then you can limit how much he talks about what happened, and you have more ability to control the narrative. I always assumed that they were looking in the right spot, but the tire wasn't there. And Daryl was speculating that the car had previously had a flat tire, the spare was put on, and a new spare was never purchased. Bare in mind that back then you had a full sized spare, not just a donut that you get now.
