Could Junior have done a long stretch in 'the can' before the series started?
Could that be why, despite his advanced age, he still hadn't made underboss or boss?
sharePossible, but most likely he was just passed over by younger guys who the boss thought was a better fit to sit in the big chair. We don't know how long Old Man Dimeo was the boss for when he went to prison, or how old he actually was. He may have been older than Junior. And when he passed over several older capos and named Jackie Sr. as Street boss while he was in prison, all Junior could do was shut up and accept it.
