He might be rich, but not crazy rich like most of the other people of Aspen.
Or he had a personal vendetta against Mary's family and this was his way of getting over on them.
Or he was super rich, but was racking up some bad debts, and did something desperate for quick cash.
Hard to argue against Sean Penn.
I would listen to an argument for Forrest Whitaker, but probably wouldn't agree.
Anthony Edwards had a fantastic career. Jennifer Jason Leigh was huge for awhile, and even recently popped back up in The Hateful Eight.
Nicolas Cage of course got huge by the end of the 80's and was an A-list star thru the 90's, including an Oscar. But that quickly faded, and now he's kind of a joke.
Phoebe Cates, and Judge Reinhold and some hits after this, but neither really made past the 80's.
I don't think she was a virgin, and her relationship with Doug was real.
However....
I think she exaggerated, or downright lied about most of the details of the relationship. Like many younger girls, she thinks that just because a guy is older and at a higher level than her (college vs high school) he must be much more mature than any high school boy. So she is actually able to talk to him, and he respects her, and isn't just after one thing. And like most girls, she eventually figures out that a college guy who is dating a high school girl, he's not only probably too immature for girls his age, but a big a creeper too. And he is still only after the one thing, but he has enough experience to know that if you actually talk to a girl, and act like you're interested in what she has to say, you have a better chance of scoring with her.
At this point in the relationship, Linda was realizing that Doug was full of crap. He didn't respect her, he just wanted to nail her. And it was easier for him to get a high school girl to believe he actually respected her. And he was probably not a good lover either, which is why she struggled to answer the time question. She had built up the idea of him early on to her friend, and didn't want to have to admit that he was a loser on all fronts, and she had been duped by him.
Remember in the book/movie The Witches, the witches are able to lock children inside of paintings. And the children movie around to various spots within the painting, but no one ever sees them actually move.
Maybe the Overlook is kind of like that. Once it owns your soul, it can do whatever it wants with you. Including putting you in pictures of events that there's no way you ever would have been at, in various poses, and outfits. Basically you could walk by that picture every day, and every day it might be different, with different people, in different places.
Homer: In order to find Flanders, I have to think like Flanders.
Homer's Brain: I'm a 4 eyed lame-o, and I wear the same stupid sweater every single...
Homer: THE SPRINGFIELD RIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two holes in your story:
1) The First Order built up its ranks by kidnapping young children, and brainwashing them into their way of thinking, and making them faces storm troopers in their army.
2) The First Order was trying to destroy the New Republic and conquer the galaxy. They weren't just sitting around in their own little corner of the galaxy, when the big mean Republic tried to force their rules upon them. They were the aggressors. Kind of like when the Japanese Empire tried to conquer all of East Asia thru brutal force, and when the U.S. tried to stop them with an oil embargo, they tried to crush our ability to stop them.
Toby, Meredith, and Jan were all divorced prior to the show. Angela, and Robert California each got divorced during the show. By the end of the Stanley had been divorced twice, and Oscar split up with his boyfriend whom he was living with.
So even when Teigen was able to rub her two brain cells together, and have rational thought, she then provided data to disprove her own theory.
Got to admit, I was rooting for Sebastian in the end too.
And yes the rape was disturbing, and so was when he fondled the other girl when she was sleeping. And when we really think about it, Sebastian was a bit of a perv even before he became invisible. Not only does he make it a point to be nude in front of his female coworkers, but he makes sure he has their attention and acts as though they should be thrilled to see him. But I still like him better than any of the other characters.
I don't think Michael would care enough about it to frame someone else for the murders. Seriously I think he saw the guy in cell when he walked by and realized he idolized Michael. His work there was done, and the guy was harmless, so why not give him a priceless piece of memorabilia.
Are we sure it failed?
Baldwin could have been really good in this role, but its hard to imagine anyone else but Keaton playing that role.
Who knows what Hamill would have done with it, but Nicholson brought the major star power that the movie needed to make it the blockbuster it became. Notice he got top billing over Keaton. And his portrayal of the Joker is amazing as well.
Anybody who is already complaining about the runtime, in either direction, is someone who will never be satisfied with the movie, no matter what happens.
In other words, why give a shit what they think.
If that were the case they would have made it shorter, so it could be screened more times per day.
For the first movie she had to straighten her hair so much that it actually permanently ruined her hair. That's why she's always had short hair in real life ever since. She wore a wig for this movie.
Along with the wig, by the time the sequel rolled around, she was a legit star. She did 3 movies in between the Halloweens, and had become known. Its possible she was able to have a little bit of work done during that time. Not to mention that the budget for the 2nd movie was much bigger than the first. So they probably had much better hair and makeup people on set.
Wilbur only had to answer the questions he was asked. They only asked him about size and brand of the tires on the car, and if they matched the tire tracks. He wasn't asked if it was possible for a Buick Skylar to make those tracks, and its unclear if he would have known that anyways.
WOW
Never thought that much about that. I always had just figured she was in shock over what had happened.
But now I'm looking it as an adult and from a different angle.
The way her clothes and hair are disheveled and the smirk on her face suggest that maybe her super natural encounter was more pleasurable than she expected. A stark contrast from the cold, humorless, and frigid DA we were watching earlier.
Also consider that she was flown out of the courtroom, she was upside down, vertically, with the ghost flying above her holding her by her leg. Not only do we see that she's wearing thigh highs and a garter belt, but the Scoleri brother would have a nice view if he looked down.
Every one forgets that this isn't the first time the Night King was defeated.
He was defeated a thousand years before during the previous longest night. After that war was when the wall was built.
And while yes we are at peace with the Wildlings, that alliance is fragile at best. It basically hinges on the friendship of Jon and Tormund. It would take a lot to erase the tension of a thousand years of distrust and hostility, and once both those guys are gone, it won't take much for everyone to fall back into it.
Rudy didn't have any older brothers IRL.
She realized she was married to Hank Azaria. That's what happened.
I think Joe was but hurt for two reasons:
1) It wasn't even acknowledged that he was there. Once again his great college career is ignored.
2) He's probably friends with Dan Devine and didn't like how he was portrayed in the movie.
