That's exactly why I rooted for the character of Wick, too. He was shown to be emotionally devastated by his wife's passing in the first flick, and is still dealing with the grief in part 2. In other words, despite his specific set of lethal death-dealing skills, he's not just a robotic killing machine---he's shown that he's human and is tired of the life and wants to get the hell out asap, but prior conflicts and issues make that near impossible this time around. Also, it gets to the point where everyone and their mama is gradually trying to off him, one step at a time. That definitely made him and what he goes through in the film more compelling to watch. Plus Keanu is near smoking hot in it,lol. One of my favorite action scenes in the film is when a whole gang of men come after him in the museum or wherever it was, and after each one he takes out, he has to grab their ammunition to keep reloading his gun, over and over again, since he keeps running out of bullets for obvious reasons. I thought that was actually kind of realistic for an action film----you don't often see that done in these kinds of films, lol. I also liked the fact that the film didn't use a lot of CGI for the fight scenes or anything else--that was refreshing, too.
