Correct. I haven't seen theatrical cut but it's always a shame when people come onto these boards and slam a movie when it's possible they would have rated it much higher if they'd have seen the uncut version. It was definitely the best part of the movie, imo. Not saying the other parts of the movie weren't good, but it's one of the better romances I've seen in movies and I don't watch your typical romcoms etc. Could Lady Murasaki have been safely killed off and it would have made it an even better movie? Absolutely. Dude, it's a movie, chill out. Gotta try and suspend your disbelief with movies. It wasn't THAT over the top. Very good movie! I rated it a 8/10 also. I thought they cast Hannibal extremely well, his face and mannerisms fit perfectly, the romance that never really came to be was very well done! I think it was maybe a little too predictable with the ending and Hannibal getting his revenge on everyone. I'll be honest, I think it would have added that little touch if Lady was killed; it would have tugged on those heartstrings a lot more and you could really see why Hannibal would have gone completely crazy with bloodthirst - there wasn't much point in keeping her alive as she isn't in any of the sequels anyway - it would have boosted it to a 9 for me if they left me feeling this 'noooo not Lady Murasaki!' feeling, and yet even after she was killed he still gets revenge on everyone, it would have been a bitter-sweet ending as even though Mischa's death was bad, and it was good they added in the slight twist of Hannibal also eating Mischa, Lady Murasaki's death would have been very raw and recent. The other cons were the accents of the bad guys; they should have done what they did in Enemy at the Gates and just had everyone keep their original accents (I think most of the bad guys were Brits IRL), it would have come across more realistic - sure they were German but Enemy at the Gates did it really well, so I don't see why Hannibal Rising couldn't. CGI of the planes at the start was kind of bad, but it was 2007 so I can forgive it. Not entirely sure what the trafficked women were all about.. I actually thought the first one might have been Mischa and it was all a ruse and she was still alive! But then she just got shot and that was that.. potentially a decoy by the director? If it was intentional then 10/10 for it! Also it did suddenly jump from scene to scene about 75% of the way through the movie, which I thought was a bit odd considering the movie had a very good build-up. Luckily the rest of the movie wasn't jump-cuts all the time. But yes, very good movie nonetheless. It's definitely a movie you have to watch in parts, like a mini-series. Exactly, very well said, sir. This movie is definitely 'loaded', if you will. Whether you're left or right, you have to be pretty stupid to think lockdowns, curfews, dictatorships, and out-right censorship are a good thing for the normal you and I. Movies definitely are a medium for people to get their political ideologies across, which is of course a good or bad thing, depending on what you agree with (imo, try and keep your specific political ideologies away from movies, TV shows, video games, etc.), and because it's so 'loaded' in that sense, I won't go into the exact specifics of what I personally did/didn't agree with, but for the generalisation of the pandemic and human testing etc, I thought it was a great movie that was eerily accurate and relatable to what the world went through in 2020 and beyond. I gave it a 7/10. I would have given it a 9 but somehow even in 2005 they managed to make it a little woker than I like, which is a shame, but a solid 7 for the rest of the movie. Great performance from Hugo Weaving as well, I really liked him in the Matrix movies also. Edit: Funnily enough, when I was younger, I didn't rate the movie too highly as I guess I was too young to understand what it was really about (and V's lines in the beginning of the movie didn't make sense and I maybe remembered the movie just for those somewhat confusing lines at the start more-so than anything else), but the fact it got the whole COVID stuff bang-on 15 years before it happened is pretty incredible. I agree, he was very suave. Still a huge issue: People WILL break into your house and steal all your stuff. The USA would be far richer, so it would be a lot cheaper to do all those crazy things you mentioned. You'd be surprised how expensive a human life is, especially human life like those incarcerated for their whole lives, among others. Tax dollars would go straight back into the system and not be used on inmates (for example), which would have a butterfly effect on everything else, causing the prices of everything to shoot straight down. Meaning transferring patients out of every hospital to remote location 'hospitals' (which again would be bought and paid for by the tax payer, but they can now easily afford it) would be a dandy, as long as you started it a couple of weeks in advance. Yea they aren't gonna risk leaving some random purgers alone in case those purgers turn on the truck. Like someone else said; they more than likely spent most of their time traveling to where non-purgers were holed up and smoking them out and killing them. So rather than roaming the streets endlessly looking for other purgers, they go from point A to point B to smoke out the non-purgers, and during the journey, if they happen to come across other purgers, they'll just kill em to be on the safe side, but it's certainly not their primary objective. The Purge (2013) sets the tone quite well but the movie itself isn't as good as it could have been. I gave The Purge (2013) a 6/10. This movie was SURPRISINGLY GOOD! So much in fact I gave it a soft-8/10! Like another poster said, Frank Grillo did a great job. Story keeps you on your toes, didn't really have any downtime in the movie and it was a 1 hour 45 minuter. Acting was a bit shoddy from 'Shane', and yes the daughter is pretty annoying, but apart from that it was pretty solid everywhere else. Exactly - you'll pretty much lose everything if you leave the country whilst The Purge is occurring. Right?! It definitely needs to be 'only murder is legal' rather than 'everything is legal'. Problem with that is people will burn down your house. You're not just fighting for your lives, you're fighting for survival to last the other 364 days of the year until the next purge. Doubt there's any insurance valid for the night of The Purge. Yes, this movie definitely isn't 'boring', it has very good pacing. But I think due to the fast-pacing it does get maybe a little confusing and feels a little rushed. A solid 5/10. Ye I did think to myself "ARREST THAT MAN!!!" Very depressing. Very long. Very big downer. Yes, I certainly agree. I saw in another thread apparently the last 10 mins was an actual show that took place, so I kinda get why they put it in, but would have been better if the movie was longer and we saw the outcome in 'real-time'.
