Really bad but critics liked it-why?

The audience got only a handful of laughs out of this. Very disappointing-- especially considering RT critics liked it. Something rotten at Rotten Tomatoes. It has maybe 30 minutes of comedy, the rest was like a Saturday Night live skit gone too long. Why would the movie critics social clic review this so high?

Movie critics are the lowest form of literary endeavor. Do not expect high standards, wisdom, polished tastes, or even honesty. These people are paid to watch movies. What's not to like?

This makes me laugh because to you the critics are only wrong when they don't share your opinion. You critics of the critics stop criticising the critics when the critics are not criticising your favourite things! 

If the reviewers criticise your favourite thing: REVIEWERS ARE STUPID!
If the reviewer praise your favourite thing: YOUR FAVOURITE THING IS PERFECT!

@Longbrew

You do not speak for me, believe it or not. I have for a long time taken critics reviews with a grain of salt. They love trash like this, according to Rotten Tomatoes (127 "fresh," 5 "rotten") but do not get the humor in Mortdecai (11 fresh, 78 rotten). There are many more such examples to point out the absurdity of the notion that "critics" have any special insights and valuations to confer on a movie.

I guess you're just not into that kind of humor. I loved this movie but didn't laugh once during "The hangover"...
I don't know "why" really, it's just different, crazy, new... I saw it on TV and the first seconds of the movie are hilarious: the vampire turns off the alarm clock, rises from his coffin at a 45 degree angle, smiles and then stands up completely. I was hooked already. So I guess if you don't laugh then this humor is not your kind and it's ok we need differences in this world.
Check the other thread on the "what's your favorite scene", and you'll have your answer.

I agree. This movie sucked ass. Other than a couple of chuckles, it wasn't funny at all. The biggest problem was that this movie was boring as hell and I'm guessing the creators thought it was much a funnier idea than actually could be made for a 90 minute movie.

Probably because they have a more refined taste for absurdist, off the wall, subtle humour than you? It's a style that's enjoyed in the English speaking world outside America (and also by quite a lot of Americans who aren't into the in your face, unlayered, "conventional" humour preferred by most Americans).

Seems like most people disagree with you,...sometimes critics know at they're talking about. Especially when they all agree. Just cause you didn't like it, doesn't make it a bad movie,...sometimes the fans and the ratings and the critics, and the reviews are rights and it is you that is wrong... It was a hell of a lot better than 90% of the recycled rinse and repeat rehashed garbage comedy that comes out of Hollywood on an annual basis that's for sure!....I happily welcome anything that breaks that monotony.

Are you serious? This is the "Spinal Tap" of vampire movies. This will go down as a serious classic for all time. It wasn't "really bad," you are.

How to lock these critic wannabes? Those who travel through mainstream movies, never give a 10, give low grade to recent movies, while more of a solid 9 to cult classics. Those that think they have an own forged opinion, but in reality they are just childish rebels, whom love to trash recent movies, yet ain't got balls to go against classic.
I will explain you why critics love it, since you don't have the brain capacity:
1)It is original
2)It has a lot of dark/stereotype/everyday stuff though eyes of something else humor
3)Cast was really fun to watch
4)Atmosphere, was there as well as dedication to implement as much as possible of the vampire/werewolf/zombie/etc mythology and looking at it from comedy's perspective
5)They made the best out of vampires, as those things began to annoy everyone older than 14 years old (thanks Twilight...)

I am sorry you did not like/get this movie, maybe you should watch it with someone you know, so you will know when a funny moment starts ;) (I assume you might be like the werewolf)
