Acclaimed actors you don't like?

What are some acclaimed actors you don't like

Ryan Goslin, I just don't understand the love for this man, he's okay at best

Margot Robbie, it' enough, she not that good.

Mila Kinus, just awful

Channing Tatum, has there ever been a a worse actor, the man is absolutely dreadful

reply

I’m not sure if he is acclaimed but, Keanu Reeves.

reply

I agree. I also don't like Ben Affleck, but he's probably not "acclaimed". For one who's actually acclaimed I'd say Meryl Streep. I don't hate her, but she's overrated and that Golden Globes political speech was nuts. Never got the hype over George Clooney, either.

reply

Yep, on that list Meryl Streep is the standout for me. What was her greatest performance?

reply

ALL OF THEM...WEIRDO!

reply

She was great in that episode of King of the Hill.

reply

George Clooney is way over rated and makes pretentious films.

reply

I don't like Meryl Streep either. I will say I liked her performance in "The Deer Hunter" and I don't think I am her "target audience" for most of her movies.

What I found so odd about her Golden Globes speech is that I think Streep was an ex-cheerleader in high school. Why be a cheerleader if you hate sports that much? It was bizarre for sure.

reply

I know he is a great actor but there was always something about Tom Courtenay that set my teeth on edge. Same thing but in a different way for Oliver Reed.

Richard Harris, Richard Burton, Ralph Richardson, Dickie Attenborough, Helen Mirren, Judy Dench, Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn and Angela Lansbury never appealed to me ( although Elizabeth Taylor was adorable as a child in 'Jane Eyre' from 1943 ).

Charlton Heston could be awful in a role that didn't suit him.

Robin Williams I found to be cringeworthy in his comedy roles but a great dramatic actor.

Natalie Wood, a beautiful woman but not a great actress.

Vincent Price and Simon Callow, too fruity.

Mickey Rooney, too full of himself.

Ernest Borgnine gave off a cringey vibe.

reply

Mickey Rooney to me never grew up as an actor. The innocent "Gee whizz" routine worked as Andy Hardy but he uses it in everything. I have seen him as a criminal on death row, a Korean war helicopter pilot, elderly security guard, same thing every film whether it suits or not.

Natalie Wood, I feel like she chose some really bad roles.

reply

Ernest Borgnine gave off a cringey vibe. LMAO🤣

reply

I think Judy Dench and Helen Mirren are fantastic. Watch Notes on a Scandal (2006) for Dench and The Cook, the Thief, His wife & Her Lover (1989) for Mirren. Michael Gambon also gave a stellar performance. Polar opposite of Dumbledor!

reply

Michael Gambon is a great actor.

reply

Will Smith, maybe not so acclaimed anymore but same shtick every film. Annoying son he likes to cast too.

Denzel Washington, same shtick every film.

Robert De Niro, I don't get it.

Al Pacino, over actor supreme.

Nicole Kidman, pretentious films.

James Dean, sulks his way through films. I don't get how that could be considered cool.

reply

I should have had Will Smith on my list, he's just not good. King Richard was the one film he s really good in, but he should never have won for that

reply

I actually have Denzel Washington, Robert De niro and Al Pacino in my top 5 best actors ever. Just shows you difference of opinions

reply

At least with De Niro he can be different in each role.
I watched a few Denzel films a few months ago and every movie it is the same thing. Doesn't matter what the role is, he plays it exactly the same way.

I haven't seen King Richard but I have seen other Will Smith films, I remember he was ok as Mohammad Ali. It's not so much his acting itself but more the range or lack of his range that's the problem. He basically plays the Prince of Bel Air in every role whether that role calls for that sort of personality or not.

reply

I've never been that impressed with Robert Redford.

reply

Ryan Goslin
was the first and only name that came to mind reading the thread title.

His performace in "Driver" was terrible. It might have been the scriptwriters fault though.

reply

Nicholas cage ☹

reply

lol he's another one who does the same shtick in every film.

reply

Al Pacino
Forrest Whitaker
Ashton Kutcher
Joel Egerton

reply

Joel Everton is a good answer, horrible in Warrior

reply

Leonardo DiCaprio
Jennifer Lawrence

reply

DiCaprio is another one who, in my opinion has never done a bad role. Blood Diamond was outstanding.

reply

Leonardo DiCaprio, I'm my opinion, is an absolutely outstanding actor

reply

The one film he's not good in, is Gangs of New York, but Daniel Day Lewis can make anybody look bad

reply

It's been a long time since I saw it, so I don't really remember Leo in that one. I did give the movie an 8, though.

reply

💯

reply

100% overrated. Pretty much himself all time, just with a weird accent.
