I agree with you about the best picture however, for particular reasons, this film will probably not get nominated for anything.
Absolutely so unrealistic. A student athlete who came from absolutely nothing is going to turn down $35 mill for the possibility that other athletes years down the road finally getting paid......NOPE
Not in 35 mil years
I retired from law enforcement after 32 years and just watched The Wire a few years ago for the first time. I never watched "cop" shows for obvious reasons but another retired buddy told me that I should really give it a try. In my opinion it is the most accurate portrayal of law enforcement, politics, the drug scene etc... that I have even seen.
After the 2nd ep I knew that it had to be written or produced or advised by law enforcement and it was.
The inter-office politics going up and down the chain of command along with the actual politics dealing with the Chief, Deputy Chief and Mayor was absolutely spot on.
As Chriscon said above...This is certainly not a cops vs robbers show, it is so much more
NC, haha, I'm just a little older.
I had never seen any of the comic book movies as I didn't read them growing up. However I did see a Ryan Reynolds movie where he played an action figure...Deadpool. I thought it was a remake of a Clint Eastwood movie.
Buzz Lightyear?
Edited: I googled it. Apparently it is a cartoon character.
Okay
Earl and Efren was technically a joke but they did play in the Color of Money Pool Tournament in which Efren won.
I believe Ewa was one of the players in the Atlantic City Tournament. I know she was one of the technical advisors and thought she had a cameo.
Jimmy Mataya.....After Eddie refused to stake Julian, later in the film (possibly in the green room) Julian and Jimmy Mataya were together and I think Mataya spoke a line or 2
You forgot a couple of players who were also in the film...
Jimmy Mataya
Ewa Laurance
Earl Strickland
Efren Reyes
When Eddie tells Vince in the tournament in Atlantic City that he drew some guy named kennedy, I would like to think they were talking about Tommy kennedy.
*********SPOILER***********
It looks like the Chemo and radiation from his throat cancer has taken a toll on him and as a result it was difficult to speak during the film. Tom Cruise said he wanted Kilmer in the movie and Kilmer said he would try. They managed to get him in the film in a cool way
I think it was because the professor didn't respect him or the family name while in college.
I came up in law enforcement in the late 80s early 90s. I worked with most of the characters on this show and a couple of the politicians. The show's portrayal of the rank and file officers up the chain of command was absolutely spot on.
I had a "Rawls" boss. He was a good guy. He would look out for his guys...he would make sure his ass was covered first but then he would look out for his guys. If you ever crossed him though, he would burn down the city to make sure he got you back. Some guys were loyal to a fault for our "Rawls" while others kept their distance.
its been a minute since I watched but I seem to remember Wendy calling Nelson and asking for a favor having to do with Ruth
Once the remains/ashes were placed inside, it became an urn.
Not that it matters but Jonah was holding a shotgun not a rifle and Mel was holding a Goat urn not a lamb jar.
With that said...I kind of feel like the accident with the mini van brought them all back together as a family in a sense that nothing or no one was going was going to kill them and they were going to finally be able to "get out"
As a bonus, Marty and Wendy know that Ruth is most likely dead so they know that loose end of a cannon has even been taken care of as well.
Lastly they are met with the persistent "mel", right beside the trampoline where most family things are decided. Jonah, realizing that he has one final job to complete before he goes "legit" He checks mom and dad who both signal their sign of approval, closes his eyes, slowly pulls the trigger hitting Mel center mass ending his life and beginning the new chapter of the Byrde family.
When shots were fired onto the White House. Senior staff is being assembled into the office of the President. Bartlett then asks where Charlie is and says that Charlie will try and make his way to the office....and then Charlie busts through the door.
The White House was on lock down. It does not matter who Charlie is/was. No one would have just busted through those doors to get in to see the President and if so.....Fire all the secret service.
I was watching a video the other day where a journalist went onto college campuses and simply asked the question as to how President Biden has done so far and these were the responses...
He is too old
He is senile
He has failed at his Build Back better program
He failed to cancel student debt
He failed at Covid Management even after seeing it mismanaged by Trump
He has absolutely failed our economy
He and the VP have failed with the border crises
He failed with the withdrawal from Afghanistan leaving Americans behind
He has failed on crime etc.......
The journalist then asked.
If President Biden runs for office again in 2024 will you vote for him and does it matter who the Republican candidate is?
EVERY student said they would absolutely vote for Biden because as bad as Biden is, he must be better than any Republican.
This is not a joke.
Ed Hoffman was the chief of CIA's Near East Division
In order, I would say...
1. Idris Elba
2. Michael B. Jordon
3.Dominic West
4. Aidan Gillen
Disclaimer, I'm no money launderer but...
IMO, the gov't isn't looking for $100. they are looking for $100,000. If you go to deposit that $100k, from a transfer of goods, the gov't is going to be looking on the other end of that transaction to confirm that your transaction was legit. When they see the other transaction was from an illegal SS# or bad DOB then they will start looking.
If you filter your ill-gotten gains through a legitimate business as expenses or shell corporations then the money is harder to determine if it is legal or not.
If I purchase a restaurant for 1 million, I'm going to start claiming deductions as soon as I can to off set my taxes. The gov't is going to look for the seller to make sure they are also paying their taxes on the 1 million they received from me.
That was the priest fellow who does the Sunday morning gatherings on the lake where everyone is on the boats. I think the fact that he was shot point blank in the chest, and lived, pushed him into finding the lord and spreading the word.
Darlene Snell shot him.
