If you didnt want him to die, and it be a happier ending, how would you have resolved the fight between Ed and Peter Vincent so that Vincent doesnt stake him and kill him? I know we can kill the master vampire Jerry and the people turned will turn back to normal, as what happened with Amy's humanity restored. But how would you get to that scene, take Ed out of the fight but not kill him?
I understand you think his death goes against the spirit of the movie, but Ed dying does raise the stakes (ha) and have the audience feel the tension of how dangerous this has all become for our protagonists.
Grieving does take time. Do we get an indication how long time has passed since the films climax? I always assumed at least a few weeks have passed.
Eddie Redmayne is the reason why I enjoy Jupiter Ascending as much as I do. He plays the villain like a man keeping control yet with derangment seeping out from behind that mask of discipline. And the voice he used made me think of the Perduellion from Summoner 2.
I also havent seen the theory of everything yet.
Reading your comment made me think of a topic I saved because it was so disturbing and this excerpt here may actually shed more light on them posting that. Maybe they really ARENT Christian if they are a serving member of roman catholicism???
"In Dostoevsky's, The Brothers Karamazov, there is a poem titled The Grand Inquisitor. The premise presents Jesus returning to Earth during the time of the Inquisition. He begins performing miracles again, and starts to be loved by those around him. Shortly thereafter, he is imprisoned by The Inquisition, and sentenced to be burnt to death. In prison, he visited by The Grand Inquisitor, who tells him that the church no longer needs him. He states that Jesus’ overall message was that people needed to choose redemption and salvation, but human nature, because of choice, dooms most of humanity to miss salvation and suffer. The Inquisitor says that, "man prefers peace, and even death, to freedom of choice in the knowledge of good and evil" and that it is better for individuals and society that people trade their freedom of choice for "miracle, mystery, and authority."
He thinks himself a person capable of freedom of choice and that it is up to men like him to run society, rationalizing that the rest of humanity will live their lives relatively happy, but in complete ignorance. The story takes the idea that man simply will not accept the supernatural--that is, the perfect order descended from the heavens--in whatever manner it appears, because they are already consigned to rule.
The Inquisitor admits to Christ that centuries ago, the church had abandoned Jesus to follow Satan, saying they accepted the offer Jesus denied in the desert where he was tempted to worship the devil in exchange for all the kingdoms of the world; in taking up such an exchange, they planned to become the sole rulers of Earth and, eventually, bring happiness to all mankind."
This show truly ran the line well of being able to present dramatic and dark themes yet still have humor and joy. There was enough science fiction with the action, and the chemistry between the main characters was great
I still hum the main theme song to this day, such a classic and fun.

Gaslighting at its finest. You stand up for yourself and suddenly you are called the bad guy. Having shitty family is such a trauma and so many of us have to endure it.
Speaking of Mr. Incredible, I think he didnt want to be responsible for taking care of a kid. He already felt like he had a full plate by himself so he didnt see the kid as helping with the burden but actually adding to it. It sucks he grew up to be a villain, if he was more emotionally intelligent he may have matured enough to understand Mr. Incredibles viewpoint and not judge him so harshly for it anymore. Also if Mr. Incredible had been a father already, then his interaction with Buddy would have been more compassionate and he could have let the kid down more easily with the "no". Explaining it to Buddy in a way an immature child could understand.
I really enjoyed this movie. It has enough laughs, and his friendship that turns enemy and then back to friendship with the indian kid was well done. The mystery of why he is doing this was a nice slow buildup to a satisfying conclusion. There are comedies where its central plot is only there for the funny shenanigans to occur and its not solid enough on its own. This one was different in that I truly felt invested to understand why he is doing this spelling bee at all. I checked it out for free at my local library just based on Bateman being the star. You can imagine how happy I was to find this as a bluray a few years later at Dollar Tree for one dollar! I agree in that everytime I watch this gem, I am entertained and still laugh : )
Yes you should watch it! It was highly entertaining and an excellent show. It was the first show that my fiance and me both watched together and we still sometimes mention "its a show we need to own on bluray". The show lasted five seasons and had an actual conclusion to its story, no cliffhanger ending.
Watch the very first episode, if you dont like it, you only spent 50 minutes of time to see it. Let us know if you decided to ever watch it. I say give it a try. : )
The one scene I never forgot is how theres pitch black in the subway car and Rutger Hauer turns around and then eerily and quietly the large alien arm slowly reaches out of that pitch blackness to grab Hauer!
That movie was so ahead of its time, Total Recall predicted the Covid Tests!

That is a good argument to include consistency. But Schwarzeneggers prime in the spotlight way outshined Stallones prime in the spotlight. Schwarzenegger was the reason why action stars suddenly needed to be muscular to be taken seriously. Also True Lies was in 1994 a year after Last Action Hero and he was still considered a megastar. I think Arnolds downturn began with The 6th Day in 2000, Collateral 2002, and Terminator 3 in 2003 they all showed he didnt have that mega stardom anymore. His heyday was over after the 1999's End of Days.
Good reason to compare them.
Was it shelved during the time of covid? That could have played part in its extended downtime. Then when it was time to be released they wanted to determine how it should be released and then got stuck in negotiations with streaming services.
If you asked me who the better actor is, I would have to say Stallone. But if you asked me whose movies are more fun to watch, its Schwarzenegger. They both have good films, but overall I like Arnolds movies more.
Those are bizarre comparisons at first glance...but I reckon with Predator and Cliffhanger it does have the "being hunted" as an aspect. But these are still different movies and genres! Demolition Man is fantastic! But Total Recall is a very different story and setting
I would vote Mel Gibson over Willis. He seems to be a better actor and has enough humility to let his tough side go for certain roles. The worse offenders are the ones who contractually make their characters untouchable in fight scenes. Dwayne Johnson is a example of this.
Maybe the studios are shelving movies to make sure there are no "sex pests" starring in it and when the coast is clear they release it?
And it still stands the test of time, as it is a wonderful film, amazing animation, and engaging story
Yes thats the one I meant. The first Disney movie I think?
