DarkHorse's Replies

It was a far less sensitive time. I didn't bat an eyelid at any of that stuff. There was also Islamic prison at the start with torture and the attempt to cut Robin's hand off. Never thought about it. I suppose if you are going to change your genitals than slapping on some fake abs is just the next step. Progressives are all or nothing about everything. That is how they work. Because modern films are about pushing agendas and preaching politics. You can't just have a fun and somewhat silly film anymore. They would destroy it that's why. Wealthy enclosed community with lots of power and links to Government. And lots of bright eyed young people who think they will become stars. It's odd though are they saying over 60's have less life left so it's ok if they get blood clots and other complications? People didn't need as much back then as they seem to do now. Back then you didn't have home computers, internet, cell phones, cable TV. Things were also built to last, now it is usually cheaper to replace something than it is to repair it. People weren't as obsessed with fashion either. Children would wear hand me down's whereas now you actually have boutique clothing lines for babies and toddlers who will outgrow those clothes in a short amount of time. People replace their cell phones and TV's etc regularly even though the old ones still work. Women are in the workplace now too which means more people working which results in less pay or wage increases. Plus not having a parent at home also means paying for child care which can cost more than it's worth. Then all the other things that have already been mentioned. Outsourcing manufacturing jobs and call centre work etc. Although now that China has scared the shit out of everyone I think you will see some jobs coming back. Like wanting to make silicon chips for example. Don't be surprised if car manufacturing returns too. Apollo approached the whole thing as a show which is what it was supposed to be anyway. He was outmatched completely and too old. In the real world Drago would have killed Rocky too. That's how I always saw her although in her younger years she wasn't bad looking either. When I was a kid it was about a 15 min walk or 5 min drive. That was before they had weekly's where you could rent 10 films for $10 for the week. I never really thought about the hassle of returning them but I would now given streaming etc has made everything so much easier. Her anger is out of control and makes her seem more immature than a calculated Joker type. I won't ruin the abortion story line for you, it will explain a lot though. Whether it makes you see her differently or not is another thing. It didn't make a huge impact on how I see Beth. I do agree Alicia and Brendan didn't have any chemistry it was more like they were brother and sister. She's set up from the start as a good person she could have let her boss rip him off on the baseball card and also could have let him pay her $4000 for a ride to the hotel but didn't. Adam is only perfect because he has lived isolated for 35 years in almost stress free conditions with 2 doting parents. He did seem oblivious to his mothers drinking and general unhappiness. I love the film and still would only give it 7.5 tops. There are faults with it but still very entertaining. Watched again just the other night, didn't expect it to still appeal to me but it did. A simple but great film. I would have liked to have seen the 80's as well. A very colourful and fun decade. Totally missed. The problem I noticed was a lack of chemistry between her and Fraser. I know the character she is playing is cynical and somewhat rough but I still didn't really pick up on any affection she had for Adam. I guess there were some positives that came out of it though. Like their stocks being worth a fortune, chances are Calvin may have sold them earlier on. She did develop alcoholism though so that would have sucked! I think I would have liked it down there too for the most part. No work, no dealing with people, safe from crime. The downside would be if you got seriously ill you would be on your own. I've known women like her too, worked with them even. It is tiring and they have zero credibility.
