Question about why Marty even bothered going back to 1885… Music change in mall scene from what I remember first time I watched this. Just curious about y’all’s thoughts about how the show was supposed to end…. Question regarding why Beth hates Jamie...
Beth would hate him for that but would eventually forget about it. They needed a plot-device and I guess they thought the sterilization mistake would be as good as any and maybe even better - a mistake that could NEVER be fixed.
Egh, I wouldn’t bet too much on that… Lol. Think back to the big fist fight between Beth and Summer when Rip said to John that his daughter never forgets and she certainly never gets things like that out of her system….. But again, I get it and like I said before in a not-so-earlier post that either way regardless, Jamie still is and always will be partly at fault on why Beth will never be able to have kids so I guess as far as I’m concerned, what I had thought in the beginning about how I thought Jamie should be off the hook, he is and always has been part of the blame, just despite his maturity making him incapable of making the proper decision. But, one thing I did I think of though and I’m surprised Beth hasn’t pursued it was that if she really wanted to, she could go back and sue that abortion clinic for negligence and possibly even medical malpractice because it’s obvious that they did not tell her they were gonna give her a hysterectomy because it’s also obvious that the clinic foolishly put their trust in Jamie to pass the requirement along to her. 1).
I still go back to my first theory - Jamie was simply not equipped to deal with the situation Beth put him in from a maturity standpoint. He thought he was doing right, even if his choice was terrible.
I get it but whether his ability was hampered from making a good decision based on his maturity, no matter how you wish to slice it, he’s still partially on the hook for not telling Beth what they just got done telling him in the office and should’ve at least told Beth that if she goes in here, they’re gonna give her a hysterectomy and maybe should’ve followed that up by telling her she needs to suck it up and just go talk to her dad.

If Jamie could have a do-over, he would go tell dad that his little princess got knocked up by a farmhand. The shit would hit the /fan for a bit, but Jamie wouldn't be in the line of fire.
Oh, there’s no doubt in my mind that if he could have a do-over on that, that’s exactly what he would do because even though a lot of the audience likes to brand Jamie as evil, he really isn’t an evil person. Hell, the only reason why he killed his real father was probably not even because of what his dad pulled against the Duttons, it was because he was ordered to do it as an ultimatum by Beth so that she could take a picture of him dumping the body, giving her a reason to hold something over his head.

Well, being that there’s only one episode left and being that they still haven’t really covered anything more about this whole abortion thing and why Beth hates Jamie, I highly doubt they’re even going to unless something comes up in the last episode or being that because for two times in a row now they’ve called the last episode the season finale instead of the series finale, there might be a season 6 or some other type of spinoff that’ll explain it but last night, I thought I had finally solved the mystery to at least somehow make it make sense to me to where Beth actually does have a valid reason to hate Jamie over this but then quickly trashed that idea because what I had thought afterward was, that abortion clinic was gonna take her uterus with or without her consent that I was all the sudden thinking they didn’t have to tell her which would put Jaime on the hook but then I quickly realized that, either way regardless, I still went back to my original thought to where in my opinion, they still should’ve informed Beth that they were gonna take her uterus too so irregardless of the fact that Jamie neglected to tell her that when he came back to her while she was in the truck before she went in there, Jaimie still isn’t all at fault but I guess yes, as I write this, he could’ve been the better brother the time and told her what else was going to happen so that Beth could’ve made a much better informed decision that would’ve prevented her from losing her fertility. Yes, it may have started out that way, but Walker pretty much changed a lot of that by earning their trust by cutting the brand off the old guy that was being paid to screw with them from market equities and I believe Rip had enough to hang over his head to where he didn’t have to worry about him after he had him help him get rid of the car that belonged to the reporter that Jamie killed but either way, regardless, Walker didn’t “seek” that opportunity out. Beth was feeling down about herself and she knew that Walker was a singer so she went up to him and asked him to play her a sad song. Hmm. I guess if it hadn’t been for this post, I would’ve never known Larry the Cable Guy was one of the cops in that episode. Well the elephant in the room is that Montana doesn’t even charge sales tax but even if it did, it seems to me that paying sales tax is the least of their worries at least when it comes to saving the ranch or at least getting what it’s truly worth. What?? Please tell me you’re not being serious. Well, being that it’s never explained, I guess it’s just up to us to assume why that didn’t happen. You know, kinda like with the ending of Cast Away with Tom Hanks- did ole Chuck go back to the house he brought the package back to now that he knows who the sender was or did he just keep on going whichever way he was originally headed after he dropped the package off? Sure, a lot of people say they think he chased the pretty lady down but since they never showed it, it’s all speculation. Well, I just decided to go back and re-watch that part of that episode again and something else I forgot about- when Beth comes over to Jamie‘s house and hits him over the head with something that was on a table and then of course during their interchange, Jamie tells Beth to ask her father and then tells her to ask her husband about the train station, there’s a part where Jamie says he’s trying to protect the ranch for his son and for Tate and he says to Beth that the only person he’s having to save the ranch from is his father and that he says he will uphold that promise ……. But……. After Beth leaves and goes to the governor‘s mansion and starts talking to her dad about the train station, that leads to Beth saying that if this place exists then maybe that’s where Jamie needs to go so in my opinion, they actually do a pretty good job in that midseason finale making a person believe that she is wanting to go after Jamie to get him killed and Jamie knows it so why else would you believe at that point that they (Jaime and Sarah) would be discussing putting the hit out on John and not Beth? Especially after in the next scene, Sarah says his defense is his security detail, and then he starts talking about playing offense and starts asking her about these companies of professionals. Y’all, maybe that is what happened but based on Jamie‘s reaction to both Kasey and Sarah, I just have a hard time believing that the hit automatically got changed to John off camera. That’s why, who knows, maybe this was a writing thing that had got forgotten because at the time the script was written and even acted out and filmed, they weren’t expecting Kevin Costner to later say he was done with the show before the show was over and so who knows; maybe the hitman people were originally supposed to go after Beth and not John Dutton but like I said earlier, there were only now two episodes left so maybe there’ll be some kind of explanation.
