Rip won't kill Walker because John doesn't want him to. Everyone on the ranch knows that Rip is unfailingly loyal to John, including Walker.
He seeks an opportunity?
Beth asked him to play a song for her. Rip knows that Beth gets what she wants. So why is Walker at fault here? And why is him singing a song such a big deal?
Yes, it may have started out that way, but Walker pretty much changed a lot of that by earning their trust by cutting the brand off the old guy that was being paid to screw with them from market equities and I believe Rip had enough to hang over his head to where he didn’t have to worry about him after he had him help him get rid of the car that belonged to the reporter that Jamie killed but either way, regardless, Walker didn’t “seek” that opportunity out. Beth was feeling down about herself and she knew that Walker was a singer so she went up to him and asked him to play her a sad song.
