Yes. Violence and ignorance doesn't discriminate. I feel that both the right and left (mostly the left, pretty much the left) need to stop injecting race into everything and instead focus on the act or act(s) of violence and do something about it. i.e, "How do conservatives view the white man assaulting the black female worker at McDonalds?“ should read" How do YOU feel about a man assaulting a female worker at McDonalds?" It's as if the left has this unreachable, uncurable itch to make literally everything about race. To answer your question, I feel bad about it. No one should be attacking anyone. There's a great shot in 'Serenity' where we follow the main protagonist throughout his ship as he walks and talks to his crew. Awesome shot. Also of the same nature, in 'Life Aquatic' where we follow Bill Murray throughout his ship as well. Still, as bad as AvP was, Covenant was worse. Just a rehash of the worst parts from the previous movies treading in a new setting. I think the ending of Prometheus overshadowed Covenant and Ridley didn't have bells or the chops to properly follow through. So instead, "Here. Another Alien movie..." Yaawn... Agreed. Only gets better with repeat viewings. Definitely a modern classic. Loved it. Thought it was a fun film for adults with great, under appreciated one-liners. Storyline should have been tighter, but the characters and their lines were on point. With as much humor as there was, I was suprised and relieved that it didn't turn out like Terminator 3. Can't help but think this is what a Hopkins led Predator movie would look like. Predator > Predator 2 > The Predator > AvP The rest is fan-fic ;) I can definitely understand why a lot of people didn't like this and I agree with all of the first paragraph you wrote, except those are some of the reasons why this film works (for me, anyways :) ). When Stallone brought up the idea of The Expendables possibly going up against an ET a few years back for the 3rd film, the concept excited me. Here, we get EXACTLY that. Cheesy, over-the-top characters wielding crude language and inappropriate one-liners as they would a gun was both unexpected and hilarious. I fell in love with the characters immediately after their introduction scene. The motel scene just sealed the deal for me. It was refreshing that this movie didn't try to emulate any of the previous entries in the franchise (looking at you, Predators) . Like the sequel, I think this will grow a cult following. The storyline could have used a few more drafts, but the characters and actors were the ones who made this film enjoyable. I never liked the idea of injecting humor into a Predator movie, but here it just works. Their were a few moments where I had to pause the movie because I was kneeled over laughing so hard. It was then that I realized I was actually having fun watching a modern movie. I can't remember feeling like that in recent memory. Again, I understand why people didn't like this. I didn't think I'd like it. But I appreciate Shane Black taking this franchise in unexpected and uncharted territory and amazingly making it work. It's not a perfect movie by any means, but it was entertaining, hilarious, and most importantly, fun. I think we need more of that, especially for anyone looking for a two hour escape from the real world. My. 02 Lol! So, I wasn't the only one who caught that, huh? :) Great movie, BTW. Not a fan of Bloom, but the movie was so much bigger than him that I didn't mind his mediocre performance. Also, I'd love to see Ridley Scott give up the Alien series and go back to doing historical pieces. "The myth of religion as the cause of strife is more a way of avoiding the problems than of resolving them." Perfectly said. Thanks for your thorough insight! I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the recommendation! This is one my favorite movies, with two of my favorite actors. Clayne Crawford and Travis Fimmel are both awesome in this. It's nice to see OG Colossus, too. Riggs, Ragnor, Colossus... Can't ask for anything more :) A lot of progressives don't understand that the assertion of non-assimilated cultures in the U.S will completely undermine and destroy the foundation and constitution that the country was founded on. It's like they want to rid themselves of their constitutional right to choose and express their freedom of religion, political views, and free market. Islam isn't any worse than other religions? If you've read the Quran, you wouldn't be claiming this. Their book commands to fight and kill all who don't believe in their god, Allah (Surah 9:29). That theology in itself disqualifies the claim that Islam isn't any worse than other religions in regards to violence. In most Islamic countries, women and homosexuals have less rights than those who live in the United States. So yes, they should be grateful to be able to freely express their lifestyle with no fear of legal persecution in the United States. Thank you lol!! Probably will be a camp classic. I thought it was a fun movie, as it didn't take itself too seriously. DEFINITELY a guilty, guilty pleasure lol I liked the Super-duper edit, but I prefer the theatrical. The SOLE reason for my reasoning is the music. SPOILER ALERT The acoustic version of Take On Me during the final scene between Wade and Vanessa was very heartfelt and solidified the movie for me. I didn't know that a moment like that was possible for a DP movie :) I'm one of the few that actually likes that movie :) I agree. I actually think that ending leaves more of an impact than the original. Each main character singing along at the same time during different years. The editing during the ending was very well done. Pretty common. I remember sitting next to my manager in the office after he interviewed a potential candidate and looked up the name on FB. We saw some inappropriate pictures and concluded that this potential candidate would be better suited elsewhere. Be careful what you post on social media :)
