@Keelai:
"Too bad that people complaining about the protestors aren't as vocal against racism which is the origin of the protests. Trump has more problems with black NFL players protesting racism than he does with his Nazi friends who he considers fine people."
Exactly---and trumpf is only using the issue to distract from the fact that he's still being investigated by the FBI about the Russian collusion, plus the fact that he's been in office 9 months, and still has nothing he can point to and say that he's actually accomplished. That's the only reason he jumped on the kneeling-during-the-national anthem bandwagon. I think this is all a big damn deal about nothing---the whole kneeling thing---who the hell cares whether you stand up for the flag during the national anthem (which was written by a slavemaster, btw) which most people can't even remember past the first couple of verses anyway. I'm sure there have been plenty of people who haven't stood for the national anthem from time to time, it's just that nobody gave a damn because they weren't famous athletes, that's all.

Why is changing the character to a black girl being part of a "social agenda"? What is that supposed to mean? The truth is, some black kids love sci-fi as much as white kids so, so why the hell can't they see somebody who looks like them in a sci-fi show? What the hell is wrong with that? Nothing. It has nothing to do with a "social agenda" and more to do with the fact that the U.S. is more multicultural now, and TV programs (mainly the ones being directed, produced and written by black directors, producers, and writers) are merely casting to reflect that fact,and catering to a multiracial, multicultural audience. That's all that casting choice is about. Nobody is using that to tell you what to do or how to act---I don't know where you're getting all that from. As a black woman, it's nice to see people that look like me for a change, as well as other people of color in TV shows. White people aren't the only folks who watch TV, you know. Black people are real everyday people who like watching sci-fi and supernatural shows, not "social agendas", thank you very much.
I forgot----I watched it almost for its first full year, then caught up with it sometime on down the line----I didn't watch for the entire time it was on,though. I think I managed to catch it in its last year,though.
What difference does it make? Never heard of this show, but in a show about vampires, why the hell does everyone have to be white all the time? And don't give me that "because the character was originally white in the novel, they should stay white" nonsense. Fictional characters in books get changed ALL the time in the transition from book to screen---with the emphasis on fictional, so who the hell cares what color they are? Geesh! This is the 21st century,people---show some imagination.
Maxipayne:
Seriously? I've always thought Paul was good-looking, just not in the traditional Hollywood way,which is refreshing. And he is married in real life, so there. Also, relationships are about more than just being with the hottest person--keep in mind, looks come and go---you sound like a teenager who hasn't realized that yet,lol.
rencikraljica:
Yeah, I really liked it because of its low-key approach to the drama, and the fact that it was a love story interrupted by circumstances. Nice to see the usually interesting Aaron Paul play something close to a romantic lead for a change. The film was also a good mystery/thriller,too---surprised it's not better known. Plus Claire was a bad-a** when she showed who she really was and what she could do---she definitely had his back. Liked the film, despite the non-happy ending---it was a very warm drama with a low-key romance that felt real.
Priat:
Just saw this movie, because I love thrillers, but Claire simply acted like a trained secret agent---she wasn't trying to be a "superwoman"---don't know where you got that from. It was cool to see her handling her business and protecting who she had to protect. Seeing the ending sucked because of all they'd both been through--I was hoping they would make it out together. Really good suspense film---I'd never heard of it until a couple of weeks ago---it's on Netflix now, btw.
Who cares whether it had a plot or not ? Frankly, a film dosen't always have to have a predictable plot or a plot at all in order to be interesting. The film itself was a huge surprise summer hit, so obviously audiences didn't have that much of a problem with it. It was a good film, and that's all that really matters. After years of watching foreign and indie films, I've been used to films that aren't the typical Hollywood stuff.
Xenopharb:
Oh,come on---it only takes a minute to research a film on the internet nowadays----it's not like you had to read a whole book to find out anything about it. I only looked up just enough to find out what Dunkirk was all about, then avoided reading anything else about it until after I'd seen it---that way I could see it with fresh eyes. Plus I like it when a movie dosen't spoonfeed you every little thing, or spell everything out for you----we as moviegoers are so used to Hollywood films doing that for us, that if some of us are exposed to films that don't do that, we don't know what to make of it. It's nice to see something that takes you out of your movie comfort zone every now and then. Besides, the movie was a huge surprise hit at the box office, meaning a hell of a lot of people didn't have an issue with the non-linear narrative---which is good,lol.
tanisaur:
It only sucks if you're used to seeing only loud,Hollywood action flicks. The image for Primer looks different because it was such a low-budget indie film (that took the director a couple of years to make) so of course it dosen't have that Hollywood polish, because it's not a Hollywood film---which Is what I liked about it in the first place. Plus the lead actor (the director himself) was kinda cute,anyway.
ryan:
Oh,come on---if you can read period,reading subtitles shouldn't be a problem. I've done it since I was a teen, and frankly, you miss out on a hell of a lot of damn good foreign films with that attitude. I would have never gotten into the marvelous and insane world of Hong Kong and Bollywood films thinking like that---plus every foreign film isn't going to have subtitles---hell,I've even watched a couple of films without subs and survived,period---only because I didn't have a choice at the time. (I did watch those same movies with subs later on,first chance I got.) It dosen't take away from the experience of watching movies, it adds to it. I've always loved to read, so it's not a problem for me. I mean, not everybody in the world speaks English, and when you watch a movie on the screen with subs, there's more room to read them and see them better. I liked Timecrimes, even though it had a very dark, ironic ending, and even through Primer had a lot of tech talk in it, and is basically one of the more realistic, thoughtful, and carefully worked out time travel flicks I've seen---in terms out of how the main characters plan everything out, and how those plans get thrown off with some unexpected/unforeseen glitches despite that (the director is, or was an engineer, so that explains it.) I never felt like all the tech talk was over my head,though---everything that happens is basically broken down for the viewer in practical everyday terms to understand. The picture was certainly interesting enough to keep me hooked until its enigmatic ending,though. Its obvious low-budget actually made it more realistic to me,though.
It wasn't boring or forgettable---you must have slept through it,that's all.
Hal:
Despite the flaws you claim this film has, I still liked it because it was apparent that the writer of the film had put some real thought into it,along withe three interesting characters characters you could root for, and an interesting perspective on the well-worn theme of time travel. Still worth checking out,though, for what happens why they discover the camera,to how the use of it eventually takes a toll on their relationships. Good acting,too.
LOL---there's no symbolism in a woman's breasts bouncing onscreen. As a woman with actual breasts myself, I can say that if a woman's breasts are bouncing too much, it's because her bra isn't tight enough, or said bra too weak to give her breasts the support they need to stay up,therefore making them uncomfortable at times. Either way, I know you men could care less, as long as you get to see certain female body parts jiggle enough onscreen that y'all can both ogle and jerk off to,lol.
MadamShogun:
You're damn right about everything you said, but you can't tell these trumpf lovers a damn thing. As long as he plays on their fears and prejudices, that's all they give a damn about,flat-out.
Bubba:
Why the hell are you defending a moron president like trumpf, who dosne't know what the hell he's doing,and never seems to know what the hell he's saying,either? You sound just as ignorant and stupid as he does.
The only reason Obama wasn't able to get a lot of things done is because the republicans fought against almost damn near everything he did. You left that out of your little biased-as-hell list. And, yes, he did restore out standing in the world, because Bush was looked at worldwide as an idiot and a total failure as a president at the time--when he left office, he was just as unpopular as trumpf is now---another thing you left off your biased-as-list,too.
Hell,yeah---I remember that trailer, and how it scared the hell out of me as a kid---especially when that dummy got through saying that rhyme and looked from side to side with its eyes only----that freaked me out, for real. I still haven't watched the film in its entirety,though. Might as well do that since Halloween's coming up soon,lol.
Bowie:
Just saw this and liked this too---up until the end. It was definitely genuinely creepy in some parts, mainly because you're really left in the dark half the time about what is really going on with these crazy a** clowns creeping up on the group from time to time. The ending could have been a lot more original, of course--like your proposed one---because it was so expected--to me, anyway.
Costumer;
Liked the finale---even though I actually missed half of it---didn't know it was going to be on, and missed the last two episodes. It was nice to see Fiji and Bobo finally get their groove on, after the two other main couples on the show. And,nope, that shock sex scene wasn't gonna happen on network TV.---there was no need for it--it's discussed in this really good article about the finale, and the show gaining a following in general:
