I always like to watch all the films in the original language. I have a basic level of German that helps me a little, but anyway I am used with subtitles since I learned to read. I always loved movies where the Germans speak German, Italians -italian and so on. I agree it is more difficult for me with movies in languages that a completely foreign for me. So Das Boot is better in Geman with English subtitles. 1. Amadeus 1984 2. Bridge on the river Kwai 1957 3. Lawrence of Arabia 1962 4. One Flew over the CuCoocko's Nest 1975 5. Casablanca 1943 6. West Side Story 1961 7. My Fair Lady 1964 8. Ben Hur 1959 9. Best Years of or Lives 1946 10. Forest Gump 1994 I had the same feeling. I was the same beat, just variations on Bolero. In the special features of the BR they say that he played all the pieces and did not use any professional players, as they really liked how he played piano. I have the Blu ray and in Special features, they tell the story that they hired professional players but were impressed by Ryan playing so they used him in all the scenes. They also said that they particularly panned the camera showing him playing. His teacher is also interviewed saying that there was no time fir Ryan to learn the notes, so he just repeated her playing until he learned it. Anyway, I find that amazing. I think that is believable as I once learned to play a piano song just watching my friend playing it for 5 minutes. It was not a complex piece. It had soe sort altered repetitive motive. I was just able to repeat it right away. And for some time it was the only "both hands" piano piece I knew. I can still play it after a long, long time. At that time I didn't have any piano at my home, and no piano teacher ever. I am Christian by birth and I love Jesus Christ, but I don't agree to the mainstream dogma. Heaven can only be achieved on earth by living things. Jesus can't save our sins, but He showed us the right way to follow. Imagine how the world would look if all of us would love all our neighbours and everybody else around, no cheating, no wrong doing. Isn't that heaven? Death is just the one sure thing of life, and there is no life after death. I don't want to talk about that as long as I am alive. This Universe we live in a huge thing to to digest. Even our galaxy is small dot in it. Is God above this immensity, so above us or is It inside us. I'd rather think the second option is easier to grasp and admit. I have a different take on Judas. Should we consider him guilty or was he sacrificed by God to fulfil the prophecy. Without Judas' fail, we have no capture of Jesus, no Christianity. He is the most important "actor" for the last moments before Jesus death and resurrection, which is the base of Christianity. After 8 years here I come as I've just watched the movie and i love it. This is from my own failing memory:Two cardinals are walking and discussing, and one says "I just wanted to be a country priest, and after mass discuss about crops, and now here I am, a dogma encyclopedia walking on two legs" I see an anti gun message. -That gun brought so much sorrow in two families. -Hampered human relations- Moroccan police is so brutal with its citizens, parent /children impaired relations. Kids shouldn't have been given a gun and for US kids, what in the world you have two young kids and you leave them with a maid who doesn't even have all that she needed for that job (papers). They could have gone to Canada, US is huge. Why go so far away, in a less safe country.I've never left my son more than 1-2 days provided he would stay with his grand parents. When that option was not available, I took him with us everywhere. The Japanese family also have communication and empathy problems. That young Japanese is so troubled but her father is generic except the end. -Our wrong laws. Amelia should have had good chances to apply to whatever acts she needed. The guilty part is not Amelia, but the border officers who should not allowed the kids to exit US. Amelia was victim of her own family actions and strict anti immigration laws didn't help either. Can we make make a better world? Or, that's not possible. you are so right. I am in Canada and there are quite a few stories of American toddlers shooting mothers or other siblings that really sends a message about some crazy American parents. OK, but why American Officers let them get the kids into Mexico on the first trip. What, you may take American kids away into Mexico, but you are not allowed to return them? That's crazy. What a wrong system. The was left there by her nephew (Garcia Bernal) in the middle of the night. In the morning she tried to follow the car marks but she gets confused at some point. She was also tired by carrying the girl. Had the girl walked by herself maybe it would have been easier. He was so stupid leaving them in the middle of a desert. At least drop them near the street. But that's the movie decision. The American media crying wolf at any shooting. They see terrorists everywhere like being possessed. I fully agree! Creepy love story! The drop in its rating! Its (his, hers, its). It's=it is. I assume English it's not your first language. Neither it's mine. Going back to the post, it's idiocracy, we are going head first. From your list I love 2001 ASO, Das Boot (even more), Nuovo cinema paradiso. I haven't watched the rest. My approximative first 10 1. Un nuovo cinema paradiso 2. Das Boot 3. Dr Strangelove or how I .... 4. Sawshank redemption 5. 2001 a Space Odyssey 6. L'uomo delle stelle 7. Lolita 8. O' Brother where art thou 9. Stanno tutti bene 10. Pulp fiction I also loved, Malena, Der Untergang, Barton Fink, The Pianist, La leggenda del pianisto sull'oceano, Europa, Europa They say that White was released after 5 years, but decided not to tell that he committed suicide 1 year after he got of the prison. The film is biased, by no means. But for me it shows how corrupt is the system, and how bad people can be. Justice is not only blind but also deaf There is something similar happening in other parts of Europe or the world. It happened until after WWII at least in Europe. It is a movie, Black book, showing WWII resistance and after war scenes somewhere in Holland. But the scene is similar to Malena, as people stated to linch women that they thought went with Nazis. Unfortunately this practice still exist, in some close religious communities in some parts of the world, where it's even worse. Bilitis has gorgeous music, it is about coming of age, beautiful, but it has a lot of nudity. You may find it on youtube. I once travelled with Alitalia and when I reached at the gate it was such a noise. Everybody was talking loudly. I love Italia and I have no problem, but yes by comparison, they are loudly, even among other latin people
