3.5 hours of white bashing
The Osage people weren't good people either. Will the movie cover that? I doubt it.
shareThe Osage people weren't good people either. Will the movie cover that? I doubt it.
shareIs it 'bashing' whites to show their faults and crimes they committed in history?
shareYes, if it isn't balanced with the portrayal of others faults.
shareWhy? Can't you take criticism? That's Like a little kid's complaint, "he started it!"
shareThat's not remotely a valid comparison, nor does it relate to your question. If criticism focuses on one group while ignoring another, it's bashing. I never brought up anyone starting anything, but liberals often fight strawman to avoid inconvenient facts.
share" I never brought up anyone starting anything"
Do you not understand what a metaphor is?
You expressed a metaphore with a clear implication that didn't remotely fit the situation. I had nothing else to go on but the words that you used.
shareClearly you don't understand so Imma break it down for you, when a little kid gets caught doing something bad and gets in trouble, they usually point their finger at someone else as an excuse for their behavior ie:"he started it!"
That is what you are doing here. White people (i am white btw) are being shown their bad behavior and all you can do is point the finger at the Native Americans here ie: they did it too!
Side note: white people came onto THEIR land and slaughtered countless tribes. The U.S. government authorized over 1,500 wars, attacks and raids on Indians. Hell yes they fought back! Yes they killed innocent people and that was wrong wrong wrong but clearly the scales aren't anywhere near balanced in terms of the amount of suffering caused.
Yeah, you're the ine not getting it, because you're trying to steer this in a direction to suit a narrative that isn't what's being discussed. This was about the term "bashing" and I said it only is if you ignore the others faults. Indians were slaughtering each other long before whites came. so yes, it's selective bashing to ignore their own transgressions. Pointing that out isn't a deflection, it's just being transparent, something you're trying very hard to avoid.
shareWow, way to stretch. What time period does this film take place? Do you really believe that Indigenous Americans were committing those atrocities in the early 20th century? Ask yourself why you're trying so hard to force anachronistic elements into a film. You may not be a blatant racist but...
shareNo they weren't. Because the evil white man stopped all this.
Oopsie.
The history of Osage tribe does not involve military engagement with the U.S. or killing white people to “fight back!” against the U.S. government. The military history of the Osage tribe is slaughter and imperial style conquest of the other Plains Indian tribes like the Cutthroat Gap Massacre. The tribe was reputed for its no quarters battle tactics that involved beheading men women and children in other American Indian tribes, not whites. They were also major slave traders and fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. If you go back just a few decades before the timeframe of this movie, you’ll find the Osage had many ugly aspects of their own history but it exclusively involved other Native American tribes (which nobody is going to make a movie about).
But...but white man bad!!?
shareAnswer this question by imagining the reception to a modern movie that spent 3.5 hours showing Native Americans killing and scalping innocent White pioneers.
shareThat is not a good comparison, but I can see your point.
shareif there 10000 movies that portrayed every modicum of native american life and where they're the good guy 90% of the time then the one movie about them scalping white people would be perfectly fine. and that's exactly what happened here, except it's white people doing it.
shareWATCH IT...THEN BITCH ABOUT IT...YOU GOT THE ORDER WRONG.
shareHow do you know? Have you seen this movie because no one else has?
shareIf you want to stop felling like everyone is bashing you, stop doing the things that make you so bashable.
shareI agree. Its like Native Americans that were murderous and cannibalistic. Or when they took over other tribes and enslaved and raped them. They definitely deserve to be bashed, but for some reason they get a pass.🤷♂️
