Time after time I see actors stepping into the director's chair and failing miserably. There are exceptions of course, Clint Eastwood comes to mind, but the majority of actors I've seen trying to direct typically produce fairly derivative work.
Directing is incredibly difficult, and very few people do it well, which is why I question why so many actors feel a need to try it, many of whom, quite frankly, are as dumb as a post.

I think it depends on the movie that they're making. Sure Clint Eastwood and Ben Affleck turned out to be fantastic directors, but maybe because they worked well with the material.
Jason Bateman made a very funny movie with Bad Words. I think Jolie picked the wrong thing to adapt.

sharethe truth is SOME (very few) of them CAN. that doesnt mean that the others must think they are up the task - the case of Angelina Jolie that should stick to the (horrible) acting. if she wasnt daughter of Voigt she would be working as a maid right now.
