I’m going to see it tonight.
shareBe sure to post your thoughts afterwards. I’m curious to see what you think.
shareI must say I was enjoying the beach landing scene until it switched into full musical. Lol
shareWhat did you think of the movie overall?
shareIt seemed like it could have been a lot more fun if it weren’t so overly preachy with feminist lectures throughout. I don’t watch many new movies to begin with, so it was a bit of a shock to me. Let’s just say I won’t watch it again and I wouldn’t want to see anything similar.
shareI felt the same way with it being too preachy. I liked the acting and the cinematography and I did laugh a few times early on. I rated it a 6/10. Did the people who forced you to go enjoy it?
shareMy wife, two daughters and friends all said they enjoyed the nostalgia factor of the movie most.
shareCurrently 337M WW.
shareHave you seen it yet?
shareNo. I was going to take my daughter, who’s into Barbie, but I now realise that it’s not a kids movie, so now I’m not so sure.
shareYeah there’s a lot of adult themes and some questionable messages in it that might not be suitable for kids.
shareAn odd direction to take for a classic children’s toy.

I suspect Mattel are being very shrewd from a marketing perspective.
I think what they're doing is repositioning Barbie for parents, or people who may be parents at some point in the near-ish future. After all, it's not the little girls asking for Barbie dolls who are asking themselves the questions about whether or not Barbie is 'problematic.'
Get the parents on board with it, reframe Barbie's reputation, and you've future-proofed your doll for a couple of generations.... perhaps.
What are the adult themes, again? What’s questionable? Anyone.
shareAnd yet the theater is full of kids. All in pink. With their wonderful dads who are wearing pink t-shirts too for their wonderful daughters.
shareearly estimates say you are completely wrong! Woketard
Barbie‘s historic opening weekend at the box office proves we’re all living in Barbieland.
The film, which opened on Friday, July 21, raked in an estimated $155 million at the domestic box office on opening weekend. That’s far beyond the Margot Robbie-led movie’s projections, which were between $90 million and $110 million. Barbie nearly doubled the opening weekend box office of Oppenheimer.
Good thing IMDB shut down their boards when they did. I can't imagine all of these go-nowhere arguments at that scale.
shareReally, these "Early estimate" or predictive type posts are stupid as fuck.
It's the same as listening to idiotic sports talking head experts who give their rankings before the first game of the season, and then adjust their rankings in real time depending on every situation, win, loss, injury, and personnel change.
Fucking pointless.
With a budget of $145 million and a world-wide gross of $337 million on the opening weekend combined with a 90% Rotten Tomato and an IMDB rating of 7.6, I think it is too late for it to flop already.
I don't plan on seeing this film, but I do enjoy the tears of childish people who are upset that a film they don't like is doing well.

Look, I don't care what side of whatever made-up fence these people lay on. I always get satisfaction when these people look like idiots 🤣
shareJoWilli, if a gold medal were awarded for completely reversing your original post, you would be the clear and worthy recipient. Congratulations on your remarkable feat of turning things around!
