Do conservatives feel personally attacked watching this?
Aren't you all negationists?
shareWhy do you think this movie is attacking Conservatives? Seems like the comet is a metaphor for coronavirus and the movie touches on fearmongering and how easily manipulated the sheeple on the left really are. The son of the President was definitely a representation of Hunter Biden. That is why Jonah Hill kept rubbing his nose to insinuate he had a drug problem.
How can you think this movie sided with the communist leftist lunatic liberal woketards? The film made the President a woman which displayed her character to be a complete greedy evil sociopath. She didn't even remember to save her own son when faced with tragedy. In the end, the people with morals who were obviously conservatives in a "nuclear family" chose family, friends, and prayers.
If anything this movie made the people on the right seem levelheaded and not misinformed. Whereas the people on the left came off as obtuse, meanspirited, selfish, and unattached. You might need to rewatch the film.
Wow, talk about missing the point.
Or is this a satirical post?
List your facts then.
Waiting...
Still waiting.........
Since when conservatives care about facts?
shareWhereas the people on the left came off as obtuse, meanspirited, selfish, and unattached.share
It's not surprising you are this delusional considering what your side has said and done for the past 5 years.
Qanon. Enough said.
Don't mind theargentinian. Just spends all his/her time attacking anything that they don't agree with and anyone who thinks differently as wrong or just horrible people. No one takes him/her seriously as they just want attention. My solution is to just ignore them, because all they do is spew hateful and racist rhetoric that creates divide rather than bringing people together.
share10-4 copy that
shareHe might easily be the biggest moron on this site. No mean feat, considering it's full of severe TDS afflicted leftist imbeciles.
share*High Five*
Drinks and smiles all around.
Seriously? The biggest dispute between right and left is that the right is all about fact and the left is all about emotion.
shareThat's what they want you to believe. Science is facts, a religious book is not.
Trump was fact-checking-proof.
Republicans/conservatives are not the same as "people who believe in a god," a group which encompasses all sides of the political spectrum. Republican policy is based on facts and science, Democrats base theirs on emotion and feelings. Just go through the various platforms of each party and identify which is in line with fact, and which is wishful thinking.
shareHysterical. A party whose leader claims that wind power means your TV shuts off when the wind doesn't blow hard enough is now the "party of science".
shareThe fact that you believe what you wrote to be true, when it is demonstrably, provably false, is telling. Maybe I should revise my statement and say that the Democrats are the party that believes what their TVs tell them to believe.
shareNice try, cultist. I heard him say it. Multiple times.
shareWhat you most likely heard was an edited, out of context, sound bite, similar to the CNN video of him "embarrassing himself by overfeeding the fish in Japan." He joked that if you rely on wind power you'll have to turn your TV to save power on a not windy day. The media tried to turn an obvious joke into some kind of gaffe, and those who didn't bother to find and watch the actual statement, i.e. you, fell for it.
shareNope, not at all.
But hey, I hear they're going to try out Grape Kool-Aid for you guys, so enjoy. It sounds yummy!
Why don't you find a clip of what you claim to be true. If you truly believe he made the statement you attribute to him, prove it.
shareNah. I don't waste my time with cult members. You'd claim it wasn't what it was even when presented with evidence. And, be honest, you know that as well as I do (that's rhetorical, I know you won't actually be honest about it)).
Just get ready for that Grapey goodness, buddy.
Translation: you Googled it, realized you are wrong, and are too ashamed to admit it.
Also worth noting, I'm not a fan of Trump. I'm simply man enough to admit that the media had it in for him from the moment he threw his hat in the ring.
Have you ever tried mixing the Grape and the Cherry? Might make an interesting flavor. You might want to give it a try.
shareI can see we're done here. You've lost the argument and are now resorting to insults. Take care, and have a happy new year.
shareI told you, I don't argue with cult members. But I am very interested in which flavors of Kool-Aid you most enjoy. Are you into the more obscure flavors, like pineapple, or are you more of a Tropical Punch kind of guy?
shareYou got totally owned, leftist.
shareSuch burn you got, i suggest you find a doctor, fast.
shareLOL. Yeah, the way Trumpists "own" all the time. By pretending something that is out there on video just never happened. Wow, I'm in such awe.
Enjoy being in a cult. I know you do.
"By pretending something that is out there on video just never happened."
You failed to pretend the source.
I don't know if that video exists or not but you are the one that claims it exists so it's on you to provide the evidence.
You know, like you said with the claims of the election fraud: there is no evidence, present the evidence.
So, I'm waiting for the evidence (but I know you wouldn't provide any because you have any). And that's the burn ...
Trump have said a lot of idiotic things but I will still not take your word for another one.
And the real sad thing: you idiots are arguing about which one is more stupid, idiotic, senile of the two presidents.
People should have arguments around presidents along the lines "ours is better because ..." and not "yours is worse because ..."
In the end yeah, trump might be worse than biden but that doesn't make biden a decent president, just an idiot that maybe is slightly better than another idiot.
And if YOU don't see that as a problem then YOU are the problem.
I'm not "claiming" anything, I just quoted something Trump has said many times to mock the dumb thing the Trumpist above said.
I don't bother arguing or trying to prove anything to cultists . They'll ignore evidence or pretend it's something else, ie the "it was a joke" defense he was preparing (I mean, it was, in the sense that Trump was making fun of people who were dumb enough to choose an energy source that you can't use when the wind stops, nut not a joke the way he claims).
Arguing with cult members is a complete waste of my time and I won't bother with it. In fact, while posting a few comments here was very mildly entertaining to me for a while, it has clearly become a waste at this point, so I won't bother anymore.
You should be embarrassed by how owned you just were.
shareThis is like a 9th grader's understanding of politics
shareActually, science is mostly theories and guess work, but you keep drinkin' the kool-aid.
"Scientists" have contradicted themselves multiple times on literally everything about Corona since this mess started. Go watch reports and statements from 2020 and look at what they say today.
Keep on sleeping, you couldn't handle reality anyways.
LOL.
shareAs you believe what you believe about Trump largely due to "fact checking" I'd say that he was definitely not fact check proof
share"Since when conservatives care about facts?"
How'd that heavily hyped Mueller investigation turn out? Lol. Douchebag.
At least democrats care about investigating the facts. Republicans block investigations.
shareThat's demonstrably false. Watch any podcast of Glenn Greenwald or Aaron Mate about the lies slung by Democrats regarding "Russiagate." And that's just one of many recent examples. A similar heap of lies are being told by Democrats about January 6th. And the whole "peaceful protestors" of BLM and Antifa thing. You are woefully uninformed, sport.
shareAnd you are brainwashed. Stop watching Tucker Carlson.
shareOh, they so much cared about investigating the election problems that they blocked every last one of them.
sharesToP tHe sTeAl!
Lol. So you're one of those?
If by "one of those" you mean one that things that an election process/system should be as clean and safe as possible and that ANY problems with the system should be investigated, solved and the system improved so in the future those problems don't arise as to maintain the value of democracy then yes, I proudly am "one of those".
shareI meant one of those conspiracy nutjobs who repeat everything Trump says.
There was no steal. Several judges said so.
I'm not commenting on the steal thing.
But if you deny the fact that there were legit problems with the elections that should be investigating and solved then you are the problem.
like what? be specific. you saw some posts on twitter or fb and concluded the election was rigged?
shareAgain you're twisting my words. I never said that the election was rigged.
And this is your problem: you see the world based on how you want to see it, not how the world is. And you're using a lot of strawmans.
Here is a good article on it that mirrors my views:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2021/01/06/2020-election-mistrust-commission-prove-or-disprove-fraud-column/4132191001/
It was the most secure election in history. That is a fucking fact. If you turn away from that or refuse to believe it, then you are a brainwashed cultist.
shareHahahah, if you believe that then you are either brainwashed either the USA election system is flawed beyond fixing.
‘Safe”

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/11/04/fact-check-typo-led-false-post-michigan-votes-biden/6164385002/
This kind of “errors” should not be possible in a safe system. Period.
Yeah sure record breaking amounts of the most unsecure form of voting and it was somehow the most secure election in history and not the least lmfao. Maybe do some critical thinking before you go around calling other people brainwashed cultists mr "mensa"
shareLike that republican Joe Biden who blocked the investigation into burisma?
shareI don't know if they care about facts, but I bet they care about grammar.
shareFacts? Thats rich. I'm sorry, is it the conservatives trying to teach us that there's 72 genders? Is it the conservatives that think if your son touches a barbie doll that he's secretly telling you he's a girl?
shareOne of the positives of the film is that it can be taken many ways. Is the president a version of Kamala Harris and her son a Hunter Biden parody, or is she meant to be a version of Trump? Most everything in the film is vague enough to be either side, but accurate enough to represent the reality of the world today.
shareShe can't be a version of Trump. She admitted to hiding her smoking habit. Trump doesn't hide from shit which is why he always gets himself into a pickle. Trump was the most transparent president ever. He couldn't help himself, he plastered everything on Twitter. Also, I think the writers would've been smart enough to incorporate something "orange" to get the TDS people's gears running. Meryl Streep's Character was definitely a creature from the swamp.
shareIt doesn't have to be a spot-on, exact representation to satirize someone. She was given elements of both sides, and certainly displayed some Trump-like qualities in addition to many that fit Kamala.
shareSure, I see and understand your point. I don't have blinders on like the left. I agree with you.
share[deleted]
So I rewatched the movie last night and I have to say I go back to disagreeing with you. Just in the first 30 minutes of the movie, there are so many tells that they're taking digs at the liberal left.
- In the beginning of the movie at the Oval Office, the president walks past the 3 scientists ignoring them no matter how many times they shout her name. She doesn't even make eye contact with them and just shows her back as she rudely brushed them off. That's a dig at Joe when he ruses to take questions from reporters or anyone and he just turns around and walks away.
- The reporter cancels his girlfriend by breaking up with her through doxxing because she gets some bad publicity from using the wrong choice of words.
- When the president finally does sit down with the 3 scientists she keeps looking at her watch like she's bored and doesn't want to be there just like Biden during the ceremony for fallen troops.
- At 21:44 the camera cuts to a picture on the president's desk. It's her and Bill Clinton having a hugfest. They also show another picture with her and Mariah Carey.
- Ariana Grande's character represents famous people like Cardi B who get involved in politics when they don't know shit about what they're talking about. The film does a great job at making them look shallow, nasty, and unintelligible.
- Phones and devices are able to buy stuff that is trending on their own. Such a dig on China with stealing data and how Facebook and Twitter want to start the multiverse world which is just around the corner since you can actually invest in digital realty these days.
The only reason I thought of Trump was because it showed the Andrew Jackson portrait, but then it showed her hugging bill clinton so I was thinking hilary
share> She admitted to hiding her smoking habit.
That's a direct reference to Obama who smoked and hid it.
Yep. The film was created by leftists, and is a leftist critique of politicians, elites, the press, etc.
shareI think the movie was created by people who care a lot about the environment. Ever seen DiCaprio's "The 11th Hour"? It is clear that LC is a strong environmentalist. I have no idea about his politics, or the others involved in making the movie, but it just so happens there is not that much of a market for environmental movies on the Right.
This is a critique of how stupid people are and how it may and probably is going to lead to all our deaths a lot sooner than later. Just because I might see more connections to the Left than the Right in this movie really does not make it a Leftist movie.
It's not a movie about how stupid people are; it's a movie about how elites mislead and abuse the people while looking out for themselves. The movie's writers are both socialists, one of them also being its director. That's the perspective offered by the movie.
share> It's not a movie about how stupid people are
Yes it is.
"It's not a movie about how stupid people are; it's a movie about how elites mislead and abuse the people"
Actually it is. That kind of misleading works ONLY on stupid people.
The entire movie was about the people posting memes on the internet amidst the apocolypse. I'd say its a blatant example if the stupidity of the people.
shareYup, that's the nice part of the movie, it's vague enough to represent any sides.
But of course people that are partisan will see the opposite party being the mocked one.
Thanks for that. Funniest thing I've read in a long time.
shareThere is so much to laugh about when it comes to the left.
shareKeep it up. Your impression of someone this clueless is a level of satire I wish the movie had achieved.
shareThis is yours: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qv9sH5ptgRA
shareIf you guys were really laughing as much as you pretend to be you be much happier and smile ... but you on the right are always miserable and frowning and at war with the country, and reality.

Most people learn when they are wee children that one off events, even a few of them collected and organized mean nothing ... really, absolutely nothing, and they sure do not indicate what little pipsqueak trolls like you think they do.
share> If anything this movie made the people on the right seem levelheaded and not misinformed.
I wouldn't say that, but it was not blatantly woke, or politically correct, or snowflake, or whatever Righties are always kvetching about. It's brilliantly stated with laser like nuance.
One thing that bothered me about this movie though was the constant inclusion of garbage music, with the implication that this is what everyone listens to, or at least shouldn't be offended or put off by.
See, the thing is that no matter how much to point to Hunter Biden - Hunter Biden is not in the Trump administration and has never ever been on TV in any relationship to the Biden administration. I think we all know the Jonah Hill character was a spinoff on Trump Jr, and the relationship was that President Meryl Streep was as indifferent to her son as Trump seems to be to his.
Another reason you can tell the sane characters were more Liberal is that they were not always lying, insulting, going against science, and picking fights.
Have you looked at the top 100 in the last 5 years???
Yes, that's the shit music that most people listen to, that's why is in that top ...
Not really ... no, haven't looked.
Something one notices when you spend time around young kids is that they don't have the mental ability to understand music, so they gravitate towards noise and beat. It's like the controllers of our culture and economy use their research and figure out how to reach kids before they or their parents know what is going on, like with junk food that destroys their body, we have media content that destroys their minds ... and it is all under the lie of freedom of choice. Why would a country want to genocide it's own people?
Control?
Keep them dumb to control them easily?
This song was No 1 in Billboard top.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCiBgLOcuKU
The songs in the movie are like 10.000 times more classy ... even the "Just look up" song was far better than this shit ...
Just Look Up was at least relevant to the movie.
I almost turned this movie off because the rap crap Jennifer Lawrence was listening to in the very beginning. Like, oh no, this is going to be one of those movies.
I wonder if there is objective experimental data that shows rap music is throwaway music. A lot of the music from 50 years ago is still listenable and good. I don't know about rapp and hip-hop, but I don't think there are classics in the sense that they will be around in another 50 years.
It's just ugly ... like most Punk was. It's sad.
Punk had some amazing bands and songs. Some ARE classic.
Ex:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSWInYFVksg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTTsY-oz6Go
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BN1WwnEDWAM
Rap has some really good songs as well. Some ARE classic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omfz62qu_Bc
https://youtu.be/MYxAiK6VnXw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIXyKmElvv8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPO76Jlnz6c
But, you know, the taste in music is wildly different from person to person.
I don't remember what she was listening to but i didn't even notice, far from making it me reject the movie ...
I don't mean to say there are no good songs, there's just so much garbage, but even the songs that you think are great ... how long are they going to be remembered?
shareWell, the Kinks songs was released in 1964. Over 50 years from now. Wild thing (the troggs) 1966. Again over 50 years from now. The Clash 1981, 40 years ago. Anarchy in the UK 1977, almost 50 years ago.
And people still remember those and like those. So they pass your 50 years threshold ...
But you're right: there's a lot a garbage, but garbage is everywhere ... in almost every musical style.
2Pac's music is now considered "classic" and his songs will always be classics since he is the Elvis of rap. Also, these are the grandfathers of hip-hop. These guys started it all over 50 plus years ago.

shareYeah the comet is a metaphor for coronavirus and the president publicly tells her supporters "don't look up," i.e. the comet is a hoax, while secretly she organized her escape on a rescue ship, just like Trump and the lunatic right publicly claimed that the virus was like the flu and Fauci was the antichrist, while secretly they're all getting vaccinated as quickly as possible.
shareIf you recall, Trump spearheaded the movement to create a vaccine, and Biden, Harris, and the Democrats were openly skeptical of it, until after the election, when they began pushing it as their own idea. And neither did Trump, or any mainstream conservative that I'm aware of, claim the virus was like the flu.
sharePoliticians don't make vaccines, scientists and pharmaceutical companies do. The government in the US and other countries organized efforts to greatly speed up approvals and procurement, and this was a success, and Biden admitted this just days ago. Other than that, Trump and Trump Republicans also spearheaded vaccine scepticism and injecting bleach, hydroxychloroquin and ivermectin, which the BASH corporation is a metaphor for in the movie. I mean, it's really hard not to see this.
shareAre you not paying attention to what's going on in Japan? Ivermectin works and it's the only reason Japan's covid cases and deaths are steadily declining. You sheeple are only against Ivermectin because your overlords brainwash you into thinking it's bad because Pfizer stands to make an estimated $33.5 billion in vaccine revenue for 2021.

Japan’s COVID Rates PLUMMETING
https://youtu.be/1S5YG7X52PE?t=641
Of course, when you get hit with facts you have nothing to say.
shareWhat the fuck lol? BASH is a metaphor for vaccine skepticism and alternative covid treatments? are you on drugs or something or did you forget to actually type what you thought BASH represented
shareCovid is the flu though. LOL 99.9% survival rate and more people have died under Biden's watch. Biden also promised to rid us of covid during his campaign. We are about to be in 2022 and lockdowns are coming back, mask mandates, vaccine passports, kids being forced to live like bubble babies, fearmongering about running out of hospital beds, and I'm sure there's more. If anyone is lunatic that would be you and your side. Again, 99.9% survival rate, and yet Biden wants America to live like we on 10. Boy, you crae crae!
BTW we use the term "lunatic left" because of the 2 Ls...lunatic right is not so catchy. You can't even insult right.
Its not. As in, literally it cannot be the flu. its a different virus. Flu is short for Influenza Virus. Covid is a Coronavirus. They are different viruses that work differently. Symptoms are similar becuase symptoms are your body's attempt to fight a virus.
And will you fucking understand it for once because it seems two fucking years wasnt enough to bash this into your tiny skull - the death rate is 2%.
But the virus IS like the flu. Thats not a left or right statement, thats science. Doctors have been fired and silenced for speaking out about it to their own peril.
To me Streep telling the people "don't look up" is the equivalent of the liberal media sweeping those doctors under the rug trying to hide the danger these vaccines present to public health.
Humans are entirely tribal. Rooting for their hard-left or hard-right side is like rooting for their sports team. And just as "meaningful."
shareOr maybe it's about a comet hitting the earth and how that impacts inhabitants? Too complex for you, I know.
shareOh, yeah. It's just another popcorn movie like Armaggedon.
https://gfycat.com/faintidealallensbigearedbat
Your thought process could easily find a woke interpretation of Armageddon, which you spelled incorrectly.
shareIs this serious?
It's a too obvious allegory about environment, I don't think anyone is even denying that. How are you not getting it?
Could be the democrat government and how they treat covid, all for the money while using science in a particular way. The rich guy was pretty close to a Biden copy (with some bezos elements) with the way he talked, he even sniffed some hair, lol
I don't think the movie was meant to bash any side more than the other ...
The "rich guy" as you put it was an amalgamation of Tim Cook, Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Joe Biden.
shareI thought they tried to show the good and bad of both sides. The prayer at the end was a nice touch to the right, and there was some criticism of the media and hollywood which tend to lean left. Ultimately, the point was that the whole thing is broken and regardless of ideology.
shareI’ve been called Far right and I found this movie funny. It has traces of all political Spectrums in America.
It clearly makes fun of Trump supporters...but it also alludes to the President being modeled after Kamala and her son being Chief of Staff...has shades of Joe/Hunter Biden dynamic.
I found it funny all around. Most importantly it was making fun of our vapid, greedy and short attention span culture.
Yeah, basically anyone can find a fitting shoe in that film. At least in the western world.
shareDon't they feel personally attacked over everything?
shareThe makers of this film seem to intentionally leave the parties ambiguous. Interestingly enough, people who affiliate with either party see the negative aspects of the OTHER party in the president, her son, the petty politicians, etc. If anything, to me this movie points out how the identity of politics is more important to some than the actual substance of their chosen party. The posts on this forum only reinforce that feeling.
shareEven though I see many shades of it here in Sweden, this film made me go "Don't Look Up - or Basically What's Wrong With the US 2021" in my head.
It's made by left-leaning people for sure, but it shoots far and wide. And it's eerily sharpshooting sometimes.
Anyone who watches this movie and sees everything negative about these characters as some characteristic of the “other side“ are the exact people this movie is making fun of. This movie pokes fun at both overbearing/nauseating liberals and clownish, loudmouth right-wingers and I think they did a great job of that. I’m sitting here laughing about it because I know a couple of friends who will definitely see this as the “other side“ instead of looking at it for what it actually is: a parody of both the American right and the American left and the ridiculousness of both sides.
shareSomeone that gets it.
And this is the problem, that everyone is so focused on "the other side" and fails to realize how moronic their side is. And this is how we get 2 senile morons to run for president, no one is focusing on their own candidate to be good, everyone is focusing on how bad the other candidate is while theirs is still a failure ...
