I thought the deal was they were the same consciousness switching bodies every week, if that's the case then the stuff you mentioned doesn't make sense, but if they were just completely separate people the whole time then what would be the point of it for Sparkle? I think they were the same consciousness originally but at some point became separate consciousnesses

That was never established, just because Godwin suggested she get married does not mean she reached the "age of marriage" whatever that means, my impression is that the film takes place over a couple years at the longest
No the reason it's not pornographic is it doesn't dedicate over half it's run time to sex scenes
If someone thinks a character with the mind of a child is a symbol of female empowerment there is something seriously wrong with them, and no the male characters don't act stupid around her
