His stand up routines were very funny and very modern.

If you think Carlin had a potty mouth...

If Steve Martin was supposed to be funny, then Battlefield Earth got snubbed BADLY.

They did.----It was called Pink Panther 2

The first Pink Panther was funny and pretty good but his last GOOD movie was 03's Bringing Down The House with Queen Latifah, he's gone downhill from there.

reply

Bringing Down the House was funny because it was an original story, not something he ripped off and messed up

reply

I can remember Three Amigos and a those two SNL skits.

Ahh, the good old days.

I was laughing at the pink panther commercial... Is anyone actually gonna watch this sh&^t? I mean Ive been annoyed at how much crap hollywood has spit out in the last few years. Is it possible that there is little or nothing left for them to write about? Im also a Trek fan and while I am going to the theatre for the new movie I know that they've probably butchered it. It looks like a star wars movie now, all action and no real story. So I guess throwing another shrimp on the barbie wont hurt at this point. Hell they also decided to make a GI Joe movie... I wonder how the kung fu grip will be integrated in the story? haha Yikes.

Let's give the man SOME credit: he was funny in The Jerk, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

True, those films are all 20+ years old, but the point is he was funny once upon a time.

I love 'Roxanne', but Martin was never as funny as Aykroyd.

You're all crazy. Steve Martin is a comic genius and always has been. From early days working on the Smothers Brothers show, to a stand-up act in the 70's that was second only to Carlin, and some of the greatest comedy movies ever made (The Jerk, Man W/ 2 Brains, Three Amigos, etc.). Not only that, but he's a gifted author, musician, and playwright.
However, I will agree that he has not done a truly funny movie since maybe 'Bowfinger', but hey, even the Marx Brothers had a few lame ducks late in their career.

reply

It's not that I not find him funny, it's just that I really don't like him, or find his movies amusing, or anything else positive. Of course, that _is_ kind of funny, given he is supposed to be a comedian and all...

reply

He has made so many funny movies, but he sure hasnt made any lately. It would be so nice to see him in something intelligent for a change.
