Remember when Steve Martin used to be funny...?

Yeah, neither can I...

To be fair, if you ever did like Steve Martin to begin with, I think his
last honest effort to be intelligent and funny was L.A.Story.

You may wish to view this - British comedian Paul Kaye played a pretend American reporter called Dennis Pennis - he just took the pi** out of celebs - like an early Ali G

ANYWAY - he gave a proper put down to Steve Martin - in a recent interview he said it was the only time he actually felt bad ( after learning Steve Martin had spent the rest of the day in his hotel suite )

Judge for yourself:

I recommend you do a YouTube search for Dennis Pennis and see some proper celeb put downs!

ummm...just watched the above Dennis Pennis...and, um, THAT'S not funny. Not beacuase I mind celebraties getting pranked but how original is it to say "How come you're not funny anymore.". Not sure I see the humor. Ali G was at least creative and funny.

In any case, If you're over 30 you remember when Steve Martin was funny. Like others have said, his SNL days, his amazing stand-up, his movies from the 70's and 80's (like Trains, Planes and Automobiles which is near perfect), etc. I didn;t even really mind Father of the Bride as a decent chcik flick with my wife.

Yes, now I can;t imagine what's making such a talented person take crap like the PP2. I was amazed that the first one did well enough for a sequel! Not that I have anything against Martin but doing a remake is an insult to Peter Sellers. Why mess with perfection??

You have to understand that this is what the British consider to be funny.

Britans and subtlety go together about as well as Steve Martin and comedy.

The name "Pennis" probably should have been a dead giveaway.

His 70s stand up days are among my all time favorites but you might not like it if you didn't grow up then (won't seem as new now). His early films have some gems, he was always hit & miss. From about the late 80s to now, he became the straight man to a wacky co-star which was odd since he used to be the wacky guy. With PP, he must really need the $$$.

Yeah...it really sucks that the last funny movie he made was Pink Panther 2.

He really needs to step it up!

Obviously this thing just looks horrible, but check out the cast list. Why???!!!$$$

The first time I saw him was before he was really famous in Britain. He was a guest star on the Muppet Show. Fozzie bear asks him to his balloon animals routine but he says he won't because he doesn't like to repeat himself. Eventually he compromises: he makes the animals but without blowing up the balloons. It was one of the funniest things the muppet show ever did. Keeping your comedy genius is nigh on impossible, take a look at late Tom and Jerry, when Hanna and Barbera where still directing it, and see just how for you can fall.
