Zack Snyder's Best Film
Anyone agree?
shareAgree. I love Watchmen
shareAbsolutely. And possibly my favorite Superhero film as well, regardless of director.
shareYes. It's a toss-up between this and Dawn of the Dead, as Kowalski said. They are both too different from each other for me to judge one as better than the other. However, I will say that Dawn of the Dead ranks higher in the eternal pantheon of Zombie films than Watchmen does in the pantheon of Superhero Films
One must also consider that Dawn of the Dead is a remake and Watchmen is a first-ever adaptation. Me personally, I prefer Snyder's remake to Romero's original. That's "blasphemy" but I don't care. And to Snyder's credit, I actually think that Alan Moore's original comic is worse in some parts compared to Snyder's movie adaptation (mostly near the ending). However, overall, Moore's Watchmen comic is much better than Snyder's Watchmen movie
OVERALL, truly speaking, I think that Watchmen IS Snyder's best film, but only because the source material is so strong and so well-respected that Snyder did not dare to make big changes in adapting it. Dawn of the Dead is a close second and it is pretty far removed from the original movie. That's an interesting differential. But overall Snyder's Watchmen I'd say edges out his Dawn of the Dead based, if on nothing else, on the comparative love of the source material displayed in each
Agreed with everything you said. The Dawn of the Dead remake is one of the best remakes I've ever seen and I think it's better than the original as well.
Watchmen is his second best film as like you said the source material is so strong and isn't messed around with too much. I can't say I'm a fan of any of the other films Snyder has directed, at least not enough to ever sit through them again.
Agreed
shareProbably true, because I haven't really liked any of his films!
This one isn't great, but there are some good scenes. IMHO it's a failed movie overall, but an interesting failure. One of those movies where you can sort of sense a good movie struggling to get out.
Absolutely!
shareI completely agree! This movie blew me away and IMHO is arguably one of the best comic book movies ever (next to Superman the Movie 1978 of course).
shareYes. But then he dropped the soap with Sucker Punch and become Nolan's bitch. Fucking up since then.
