Fair point, “he’s grown young!” my ass, the two versions looked nothing alike, I mean we could quibble that one was a one-hundred year old version of the other, but certainly not an instant double take, that’s the same dude level of recognition.
I’m hopeful, Mel hasn’t directed a lemon yet.
lol, I hope you’re wrong too.
Nope, he did it because he wanted to make a fun-type action flick, “a pleasant distraction-type film,” to give people a chance to turn off from the stress of life and enjoy something….
Paraphrased from a recent interview, this was given after his house burned to the ground btw.
Reed is obviously full of shit, he knows enough to formulate informed opinions but is clearly an overtly biased individual who picks and chooses which facts to present fairly and which to manipulate to his cause.
Fudge me, are you able to just watch a film and take the characters as they are or do you nitpick apart every film you watch?
Solid post but I do find it amusing that out of all the details laid out in the film this is the one that you chose to poke at.
Still though, you make a great point.
These ones are pretty good as well.

A great many people are weak willed and need someone to take them by the hand and show them the way, to something, anything, especially if they find a sense of welcomed community with whatever they’re lead to.
Agreed and agreed.
“So, would it be safe to assume she was sleeping with guys to convert them?”
With respect, this is an absurd assumption. There is no indication given in the film that Sister Barnes was fucking men or women to convert them, if anything she was more confident that Sister Paxton, and confidence is what people are looking for when seeking guidance, wisdom, insight, leadership, what have you, from someone.
And the premise of having attractive young mormon girls go door to door is legit, it’s happened to me and yes it caught me completely off guard, and yes they were innocently flirtatious as well. People are always looking for something, to be a part of something, and what better way than to use attractive young girls as a way of potentially bringing people, especially men, into the fold of something new.
To each their own, but but I do consider this tactic to be incredibly manipulative as well as contrived but again, most of us have the benefit of free will so what ever floats your boat.
