Constant PR stunts are a big part of what made him a success, instead of going bankrupt 15 years ago.
Well said. It was very good until Thomas (what an useless dude) signed those documents and after that the movie became repetitive (hysterical sweating people), with cheap jump scares and characters were dropping and coming back in a lame way, not to mention the miscasting of Defoe. It would have been better if they divided it into chapters and spent more time on the ship and so on.
For the record, I think that Lighthouse sux and Nosferatu convinced me that the director is a hipster hack. On the positive side, seems that the kids in the theatre were enjoying it - some infusion of culture into their TikTok lives.
Actually, the most recent Lovecraftian movie is "Leave the world behind". True "fear of the unknown".
I watched it and didn't like it at all. Hipster artsy-fartsy rip off of European movies.

Besides, Lovecraft got canceled, so there is no way to get a big Hollywood lovecraftian movie.
Last Gilermo Del Toro was trying to bring At the mountains of madness, but failed because Prometheus basically has the same plot and this was before the cancelation.
I'm always amazed by the glorification of military in USA. In most parts of the world the perception is that mostly good-for-nothing people join the army. And such respect for the "veterans" - people who are often scarred mentally for life, because they believed the lie.
On the other hand, this really helps building strong military and if I were in the goverment, I would also be a glory pusher.
