Better than The Godfather?

Don't mind me, I'm just here to stir up debate.

I like both the godfather and scarface, but I do like scarface more because it's faster paced and has better music

and yes, scarface is most definitely a guy's film

Not really sure it's better than Carlito's Way. There isn't one element of the movie that's better than anything in The Godfather.

Godfather is better than Scarface on many levels.

It translates better because the characters and situation fits better with this generation and it is more fast paced.

It is like comparing the original War of the Worlds, The Day the Earth Stood Still or Psycho (Godfather) to the remakes of each (Scarface).

Both films are great, but I like The Godfather better. I feel the characters and relationships are deeper, and the subtext is much more fleshed out. Michael Corleone's transformation from civilian to mob boss is borderline demonic, and a much richer experience.

As said, it has a far greater rewatchability and IMO it's a better movie. Both are Masterpieces, but Scarface positions itself right above the first two Godfathers.

Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, Rhaegar fought honorably. And Rhaegar died.

Love this film, but no way. In my opinion, of course.
Even without the trilogy...just Godfather 1 or 2 individually (Maybe not 3, though it is a superb movie) are to me FAR better movies than this.
Sure, this is "faster", but even with its slow parts, ii just can't take my eyes off whenever i see The Godfather, that's the testament of a fantastic film.
It sounds like i'm dissing this, which i'm not, but i just don't see them in the same league is all. For one, the cinematography and music in this is VERY uneven (But i just hate De Palma's style, as in Carrie, a fantastic film with some cringeworthy stuff in it...COUGHCOUGHsplitscreenCOUGHCOUGHfastforwardCOUGHCOUGH), and also, this film is much less refined. We all LOVE Tony loading that machinegun and going out giving those dudes hell, but it's just incomparable to the (mostly) quiet, POWERFUL endings to the other films.
Funny enough, if you think about it, Scarface has PLENTY of story elements in commmon, being the rise and fall of a "gangster" through his own virtues and faults, but it's all in the storytelling.

Well it IS my favorite movie, it has greater rewatchablity and I love the 80s. I'm OK though with most thinking Godfather is better, I just prefer Scarface.

Y'know, I could eat a peach for hours
