Well Scarface is my favorite movie, but it's more enjoyable and doesn't drag on as much as Godfather, but Godfather is still a great film.

No, and it's not close. Scarface is a great movie, but The Godfather is one of the best.
Pacino's performance in Godfather is, in my opinion, better. The supporting cast is better (and the characters more memorable - I'm looking at you, Luca). The script is better, tighter, and just as quotable.
In every way, for my money, The Godfather just outstrips Scarface.
To me there's no BAD Answer but I compare the two this way.
GodFather is whom you Marry.
SFace is who you F Around with.
Now the question which is more appealing, do you want a Spouse or F Around??
I even liked GFather (GF1 mainly, GF2 Great also but not as good as GF1) when I was kid. Don't know why I got it as a young kid but I did. And the story has only grown as I've matured.
ScarFace (because I was young then too), in "Da HOOD" we loved it from 1st day we saw it on HomeBox Office Cable. And as I've gotten older, still great. Just not quite GF1 Level Great to me.
...and it IS debatable. Two iconic and brilliant films; but too different to say which is better. "Godfather" is a class act, subtle and menacing, while "Scarface" is an explosive, vile, but brilliant piece of film making. It comes down to personal taste I believe; neither film is better or worse..
