I would go with Hugh Jackman.
The best solution in my opinion would be to cast an unknown actor in the role with Clint directing of course. Let Mr Eastwood choose the actor because only he knows what the role demands.

It would suck without Eastwood, there's that.
Instead of doing sequels, people should do more of 'spiritual sequels', or you know, just do something different that's still influenced by a movie. Don't have to make a sequel to show that you're a fan.
Jumping on the bandwagon here, but Hugh Jackman does look incredibly like a young Clint Eastwood. Check him out as Wolverine. He's the obvious choice.
But recently, I was watching Viggo Mortensen in Appaloosa, and thinking if they had to do a remake of the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, he'd be a good choice to play the Man With No Name. So maybe he'd be a good pick, too.

If there is any film in history that should not under any circumstances be touched by a remake it's the Dirty Harry movies. One of the main reasons is well... take Batman and James Bond the reason it works that there are so many different actors who have played those parts is the fact that the character is bigger than any of the one actors. However this does not apply to Dirty Harry, Clint Eastwood the actor/icon is bigger than the Dirty Harry character so there simply is no one else who can or should play the character. This even goes for a sequel, if it doesn't have Clint in it then it doesn't exist.
