Never made a good film
"Men in Black" was okay.
shareHe has made several good films: Aladdin, Men in Black, Independence Day, Enemy of the State, I am Legend, Hancock, and I, Robot.
shareHe's made a lot of entertaining and enjoyable movies that are good, but i sort of agree his movies were never great. Independence Day would be the closest, but it has aged poorly.

Really? No. At this point, MiB was way better. Ali is excellent and Pursuit of happyness touching (even though I personally don't really care for this movie).
Independence Day is a GREAT movie. It's a classic. There are many truly great medium and bit parts in it too.
shareI liked Six Degrees of Separation
shareDisagree. Most of his films are good, none are great.
shareAgreed - he's not bad at picking films, though - yeah, none of his films are great per se. Quite a few fun films - and Will Smith does have decent charisma, so he does make fun films more fun. So, he's good at comedy roles and mindless sci-fi flicks where jokes are commonplace. If there's a need for an actor to express anger or deep sadness... pick someone else.
shareI would say he expressed a lot of deep emotions in The Pursuit of Happiness, so he does have range, but that's not typical of his skills. He's kind of like Dwayne Johnson. You know what you're getting 99% of the time.
shareThe reason why most his films suck is because of Will Smith himself, seeing a movie for hours where we have to pretend that he's handsome and charming when he is neither is depressing. He doesn't come across as a humble or symphatetic, just overconfident when there's nothing to back it up, are we gonna believe he would be with these beautiful women? Maybe in real life it works but not in movies.
shareJada's pretty dogone hot.
shareWait, so you know that subpar men are often with beautiful women, but find it difficult to buy into it when it happens in films?
