the last time you were pulled over by the cops?
2007 - rolled through a stop sign.
shareTail light out. He let me go with a warning. Scared the crap out of me though. When he asked for my ID , I said, "I was only going 35....."
shareAbout 20 years ago for speeding (85mph in a 65 mph zone). In my defense, it was about 1:00 a.m. and the highway was empty. But the officer was very courteous and professional, which is why it was a shame I had to kill him and leave him on the side of the road.
Just kidding! The real ending, one that is so shocking that I am compelled to hide it: He was nice enough to write the ticket for 82mph, which made it a lesser charge.
I wouldn’t even joke about things like that. Its not funny.
shareI can't even remember its been so long. around 2000 or so.
shareAbout a week before July 4 back in 2020. Pig said I was going 80 and proved him wrong and was let go.
share2009 -- speeding 88 mph, coincidently the third time that had happened to me with that same exact speed [in addition to BTTF being in my top three films], on a highway.
shareNever 🤷🏻♀️
share About fifteen years ago. I was heading home and didn't turn on my left turn signal. It was two A.M and I was at a red light that turns onto my street. No cars behind me, in front of me, none in sight. Our town is just about dead at that hour.
A cop stopped me and said that I didn't use my turn signal.
The smart aleck in me wanted to ask, "Signal to WHOM? There's no one around!"
But I felt it was wiser to not give a cop any lip, no matter how justified I felt. lol
He just ran my license and said, "Have a safe trip home."
I almost wanted to say, "I'd BE home right now if you hadn't stopped me. I live three blocks up the street." Again, I shut up.
People told me that since it was a Saturday night, he was just looking for DUIs. I wasn't drinking. So no problem for me.
I've been pulled over a few times for DUI checks. Cops gotta meet their quotas. I also fight the impulses to say funny things like, "hey, you forgot to look for the body in the trunk."
shareyou must be a slow driver.
shareThe limit is there for a reason 😉
Nah, it's different in the UK. Not enough police to be pulling people over. It's rare (where I am at least) to see police just driving round looking for traffic faults. There are more undercover vehicles that will randomly start chasing cars but these are likely flagged as stolen or involved in crime which is why they are always being chased rather than just pulled over.
If you get a speeding notice in the UK then you will have been caught on a camera and it will be posted to your house.
speeding tickets are a big part of the city revenue here.
