"Classic Movies" You Don't Like?

Don't worry how popular a movie is. There are no movies you're "supposed" to like, and I will never question any answer, so just speak freely.

-Dr. Zhivago
-Lawrence of Arabia

Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Cape Fear

Not a Scorcese fan, except for After Hours.

reply

Citizen Kane
2001: A Space Odyssey
Silence of the Lambs
Any Star Wars
Any Indiana Jones (except Last Crusade)
Dr Strangelove
The Shining

There must be more...

reply

I love Dr. Zhivago, but I can understand why it isn't liked.

Gone With the Wind (but I like the book)
Forrest Gump
2001: A Space Odyssey
Fight Club
The Shining
The Seventh Seal
How Green Was My Valley
Sunset Boulevard (I have tried this a few times, because I should like it, I just don't)
The Birds
Meet Me In St. Louis (another one that should be right up my alley but isn't)

I'm sure there are more. This are just a few that I can think of.

reply

Just out of interest sslssg, what in particular did you dislike about The Birds?

reply

I really think it's because I read the short story before I saw the movie. I found those few pages creepy, and hopeless. The movie just didn't have the same feeling. It's not a bad movie at all, I just don't care for it.

reply

Ah, that’s fair enough. I’ve also been disappointed by films based on books I’ve enjoyed.

Godfather 2

reply

YES.

reply

I don't like any of the Godfather movies. I appreciate how complex and well-made they are, but I dislike the characters so I can never get involved emotionally or identify with everyone.

And I can identify with Samurai, mutants, or ghosts, anyone who shares a shred of my values.

Psycho
Star Wars
Saturday Night Fever
Lord of the Rings
Clockwork Orange

2001: A Space Odyssey

Raging Bull(1980)

Not one likeable or any personally relatable character in the movie...which means I could care less what happens to them.

Harry Potter
