Is the media brainwashing us?

Think about it. Everyone is obsessed with wearing masks everywhere. People will not leave their homes or travel to different counties (unless it is to work at a company or hospital that provides essential services) or on planes....my husband canceled our trip last month because he was afraid of getting the coronavirus. People refuse to sit next to each other and stand far away from you if they don't know you...I have never lived through something like this. I can't even visit my mom who lives in the next county 45 minutes away from where I live. I understand that this is a new virus to us but please. I truly believe if you take care of your body, eat healthy, sleep a lot, up your vitamin C intake, you'll be fine. I don't think wearing a barrier (aka a mask) over your mouth (that can be quite suffocating at times) is truly going to help you. The whole world is obsessed with watching the media and following all their rule about the coronavirus to the letter....in my opinion, the world is completely brainwashed right now....it's quite frightening actually....

Deaths of healthy people from this are extremely rare. Unless you are getting a huge viral load like the front-line medical workers, you will likely only get a bad flu-like sickness at very worst. Every time a young or healthy person dies of it, the media covers it in-depth and in a sensationalized manner. So we think tons of otherwise healthy people are dropping like flies. The truth is, the VAST majority of people who get this won't even know it or just have symptoms of a mild cold. Even old, sick people over 80 have about an 86 percent survival rate.

It is quite obviously being used and exploited to further a political end, and if you don't acknowledge that, you are either extremely gullible and naive or more likely, a proponent of the agenda that is being furthered.

is quite a confident statement considering you make no reference to what possible political end corona virus coverage in the media furthers. We have a conservative government in Australia too and the blanket media coverage here is the same. I haven't thought for one moment the media is reporting on this as an attack on the government. If anything, I feel more confident in the choices the government have made now than I did before this whole situation.

I don't know what the Stygiannati is so I Googled it and there are 5 results - all Quasi quotes from MovieChat. You're famous!!

I'm guessing this is an even more sinister version of the Illuminati?

I don't really get all that conspiracy stuff.

Yeah I always thought the name Illuminati was giving them way too much credit because they are all about keeping people in the dark and feeding them shit and other much more sinister stuff. Hence the Stygiannati which is about blackness and crossing over into Hell. It doesn't seem to be catching on though. And my whole life is proof of the conspiracy, but then maybe I'm nuts !

It seems the absent minded professor forgot about the Holocaust when he came up with that one. Einstein also said that God doesn't play dice with the Universe in relation to quantum mechanics and he was wrong about that too.

EDIT: I looked your quote up and there is no evidence that Einstein actually said it. It is not uncommon apparently for people to attribute a quote to Einstein when they want to give it a some reflected genius sparkle.

I feel society as a whole (or this whole country actually) are like perfect little robots doing everything they are told from social distancing, wearing masks, not traveling anywhere, canceling plane flights, staying at homes. It's like the Twilight Zone...

Exactly. I went to the grocery store yesterday. I have tried to use a mask but it's intolerable how it makes my glasses fog up, every time. So, I don't wear it. You wouldn't believe the dirty looks shot my way. I live in a very remote region , with only one case in this very large county. The level of "mandatory conformity" is terrifying. And to say the media is catastrophizing is like blasphemy. Very fishy indeed.

I know what you mean and I agree with you! Every time I go to the grocery store and don’t wear a mask (because I can hardly breathe in them), people dart me dirty looks all the time and I was even yelled at by a few customers and staff to put on a mask! I ignore them and walk away; nobody is going to tell me how to live my life. I’m not one that is easily persuaded into doing things....

Per the National Institute of Health (NIH):

Immediately before wearing a face mask, wash the spectacles with soapy water and shake off the excess. Then, let the spectacles air dry or gently dry off the lenses with a soft tissue before putting them back on. Now the spectacle lenses should not mist up when the face mask is worn.

They don't care about anything but the next click on your computer to support web ads. There is no real journalism anymore. I couldn't even tell you who the last real newsman/women was. The person who actually did there job to keep the public safe and informed. I assume there was a time when they actually wanted to get the story out to protect people, but those days were gone before I was born.
