Yeah, I agree. He abused his cast & crew into making the most perfect version of what he had in mind... except that his mind, chewn up and shat out by ganja, wasn't capable of having vision beyond the issues that plague vipers (ganja addicts)... trivial issues twisted out of shape.
When I started watching his movies I thought he was schizophrenic, but then I found out about his addiction.
Yet the devil ain't that black, once you go through a few Altman movies (I recommend "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" and "California Split" as they cover his entire range and don't scratch you on the eyes... or the ears...), you will be able to recognize specific patters in the movies of other directors too... "been there done that," a 5th page newspaper column meant for TV and shot for cinema can only take you so far.
Anon, you might not have been briefed with regards to what changed since the late 1980's: whomever used to sign up as "fodder" is currently hardcore leftist, a child abuser, and more and more often a downright a dick-chopping tranny... so they are occupied and there is no reason or advantage of recruiting them.
My personal opinion is that this movie is a critique of the current state of the military system: with all the tech they have they COULD HAVE afforded to pay a bit of attention to the faggotry happening at their doorstep... yet they didn't. I don't even think it's specific to the USA army, just like current technology is not exclusive to the USA.
When pushed, I might even argue that an anti-military propaganda:
1. top tier operators more concerned than sucking each others dicks and wanting to rape a virgin that solving the task they were given in the most efficient way possible... sure this is realistic but that's the problem; apparently the USA politicians learned jack shit since Vietnam and still can't decide between sending the scum of the earth to die or sending their best people to fight... so they just mix in the dogshit with the cake and have it all blow up in their face "I DID NOTHING WRONG"... guess what there is more of on the face of the planet: scum in the world or decent human beings (the "best people" I mentioned)? the message of the movie for anybody with an IQ above room temperature is "the politicians and military had 50 years to get their shit together but done jack shit"... does that pro-military to you, retard?
2. Las Vegas drone-control base was filled with communist freeloaders who had methods available to actively sabotage personnel doing their duty (they were probably even encouraged to do that)... the situation doesn't get solved in the movie so this can be also considered communist propaganda: bother people doing their job
There are more to say of course but if the powers that be solved these two issues I am sure the rest would probably solve themselves.
>Do these people need to be shouted at, and have a gun in their face before they listen?
Yeah. The sad thing is that this is a fairly okay situation, Middle Easteners (with an average IQ of 85) usually understanding instructions after being repeated 2-3 times. The sad thing is that gypsies and illegal immigrants in Europe are way below that and can only be educated through savage beatings, something that was ruled illegal by corruption of justice their very own sponsors.
A agree, it is absurd to assume that nuking a city of 40k would transform NCR from a neutral peacekeeping force with bases all over the place into a band of commie woke-andians.
In addition, both NCR and BOS behave like stereotypical Caesar's Legion, not only in philosophy but ritual.
The acting inside the vaults (32 / 4) was incredibly strained... maybe it's the standard manner of acting in every TV show made after 2012? So it may be some sort of a self-awareness? But is that inside joke really worth the price?
The last three episodes are way lower quality than the first four, so that may have contributed to getting fed up...
Overall the show was better than I expected, and will probably have at least 2 seasons more if the producers can get over the whole "hey, it's a post-apocalyptic desert, no effort needed to populate the place!" shtick and start writing quality material.
Sorry, I don't have the time to educate the mentally retarded... but I am sure there are taxpayer financed programs which can educate you how to make a google search.
Liberal fan service is what it is, considering that everything in it can be reduced to two things:
1. swearing for the love of swearing (1+ gratuitous "fuck"s per minute only in the first 20 minutes)
2. normalizing all kinds of LGBT dirty fantasies
Anya Taylor-Joy already had two decent movies (The VVitch & Thoroughbreds) by the time she was the age Jenna Ortega today... quite sad the waste of a capable actress
Well, I don't think they would be able to find anybody more obnoxious... Winona Ryder comes close but probably too young to satisfy the perverted tastes of the Diversity Mob.
Thank Mr. Heinlein, he has a great talent (and an even greater palette) in writing female characters.
I guess it was probably a marketing thing, recognizable actors being the engine of success... and you can't really make a believable movie about the British with actors familiar to the American crowd.
If we are already on this topic, I can't help noticing how absurdly close Matthew McConaughey's delivery is to his performance in True Detective Season 1, even some lines being identical (!!!). Not to mention that said a series ends with a subtle parody of British manners.
I don't really get what you are saying as this tv show is about making a tv show...
Strange Days (1995), The Game (1997), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), and Inception (2010) are quite palpably influenced by it... the idea may not be new as Looker (1981), Brainstorm (1983), and Videodrome (1983) all treated some or all of the same ideas... but this show is where all the ideas come together.
The sets, props, and camera work (shot on film but processed to have a digital edge) are all excellent and aged very gracefully.
Everything else is as dreadful as a Shakespearean soap opera where every character is played by Jeff Bridges.
Totally agree with you. I believed everything in the movie (documentary) until the last scene when three Scientologists "came after Marty" at the studio. That gave me a very "theatrical" feeling, as if Marty was "in on it" and they were in fact playing for the same team: "The Greater Good of Scientology" team, much like the persons most against Freemasonry are Freemasons themselves.
What happened after that event, Marty starting to swear at Louis after it was pointed out that Marty was a hypocrite (i.e. harassing around with people's friends and families while at the same time complaining that Scientologists does the same to him) made me realize that he didn't have a feud with Scientology or any its methods... his only feud was with the leadership of Scientology, the leadership that doesn't include him (preferably at the top of the pyramid).
The fact that he confessed on camera that he entered into conflict with Scientology not because he left but because he wanted to set up his own, rival, "Scientology church" is all the confirmation you need.
More fuel to the fire, visit his website (blog), and find that 1. he criticizes people who are anti-Scientology 2. the "Recommended Reading" list is full of brainwashing materials akin to the methods used in Scientology (as he can't offer materials authored and copyrighted by the Church of Scientology...)
Anyway, I don't have anything against the Church of Scientology and in fact consider that L Ron Hubbard made the world a better place, even if by a tiny bit, by promoting the importance of communication. On the other hand I find that aggressive hypocritical midwits like Marty are the worst poison possible for society, any kind of society.
Thank you very much for the article, it has been a really refreshing find among all these blocks of texts typical of communist-obsessives.

Easy: because nobody paid you to like it. The fact that the "heroes" are tax evaders who go crazy when they are caught (because that's basically the plot) should have given away what the essence of this movie is: to waste money and to humiliate people. After all, you can't expect people who say "nothing matters" to make something that does, that's Buddhism 101.
Yeah, you can't expect but pretentious trash when the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ+ (a.k.a. grooming syndicate) brings out the heavy guns.
Plot of Manodrome was basically identical to "The Marsh King's Daughter", both being a rudimentary reading of Freud i.e. killing the father and all that. Commies and all kind of degenerate lying-thieving liberals must be really really desperate to be scraping the bottom of the barrel this hard... signalling that the "hunger games" are almost here (maybe minus the cheesiness... unless you side with me: I approve cheese!)
I bet if they made it half an hour shorter it would have made 10 times as more money... but they probably needed to make it long to be inclusive and help all the movie-goers who don't enjoy movies but only go to the cinema to escape their abusive spouses.
From around minute 25 until minute 60 it's exclusively filler made up of shitty acting (and it doesn't help that the actress is herself a neurotic spazz I wouldn't piss on even if she paid me).
Aside from that, it would also have been a better movie if the mother killed herself instead of cracking the skull of her daughter with a rock and then turning her into a tax-worshiping power-whore... and then killing herself...
Well, considering that only hardliner communists promote the "Pacepa was a KGB agent" meme, no matter if true or false, we may say that those incompetent families made the series we've seen... and in that case there isn't really a difference between "people were during the time" and "bad acting."
You can't expect much from a country founded on theft (since 1918) and lies (since 1944)...
P.S. the actress playing the 16 year old daughter is 24 years old but looks at least 35... is that because of the batallions of ex-securitate officers and ex-party members sexually abusing her since she was 10 years old... or because of the drug abuse mandatory in the LGTBQQ+ sphere? are these two things related just like "people were during the time" and "bad acting" are related?
I liked her looks in Star Trek. Now that I've seen "Ruby in Paradise", I can say with confidence that she is a character actor: she plays herself. To top that, she probably has no choice... just take a peek at her public behavior.
So, to answer your question, "why weren't there a lot more accomplished men chasing her," both in the movie and in reality? Because accomplished men do not stick their dick into crazy, especially if said crazy is trailer park tier.
