I'm surprised it has not has a resurgence with obscure early 90's trends being fashionable again.

those involved want to keep it quiet, like M. Mann not allowing The Keep to be restored and released

Strange Days (1995), The Game (1997), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), and Inception (2010) are quite palpably influenced by it... the idea may not be new as Looker (1981), Brainstorm (1983), and Videodrome (1983) all treated some or all of the same ideas... but this show is where all the ideas come together.
The sets, props, and camera work (shot on film but processed to have a digital edge) are all excellent and aged very gracefully.
Everything else is as dreadful as a Shakespearean soap opera where every character is played by Jeff Bridges.
