I felt they both were racist. Doesn't matter whom did it first and/or more intently. Both were judging each other on cliché racist tropes based on nothing but skin color. I do not think it really matters who was at fault at first. They both openly did this in the film. Was it a natural reaction? IDK. That to me is very subjective.
Only if the "stretching out" is used as filler to make it an actual film/movie and not a short. Shorts usually do not make their money back. At least this got sold to Amazon so someone somewhere made some money for their time/effort on the project but that doesn't make it good or even successful. I just saw another terrible movie last night called "Cosmic Dawn." Another movie with the same subject matter that goes nowhere. A lot of the same. A movie that looks like a polished movie but lacks any substance, characterology, plot that makes sense. Makes me really wonder how these movies get financed.
Metal...
I never said that: "So there's something wrong with being like a long episode of TTZ."
You did. I said:
[I saw it based on the trailer, which was pretty good. The movie itself felt like a really long episode of the Twilight Zone or something. There is so much filler in this to give it the full movie vibe but this to me seems more like a short story stretched out. Because of that, the pacing and all of Act III. i did not like this and cannot recommend it. It is better than say Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, which is probably the worse movie EVER made since Troll II...]
So, to summarize: I do not like this movie because it is a short-story stretched out to "technically be the length of a film," but has too much filler and a poorly written 3rd act for me to give this a pass as a movie people should watch and like. 6.7/10 on IMDB, 66% Audience score on RottenTomatos where the Audience score reflects more what the general public feels, while not terrible scores, they are not great either and I would have rated this around the same or a hair lower if I cared enough to vote.
It isn't so bad that it should be mentioned with Troll 2 or Jeepers Creepers: Reborn but not by much. The production of the movie was good. It has a good look, which is why this is even more disappointing to me. I have seen better movies dealing with the same concepts but it looked like a college or TV movie than a polished film. This has the polished look but due to ALL the other issues i have with the film it won't be getting a favorable response from me. I am objective about this and not subjective about this.
These are good points to bring up.
Good Take...
I think some may see wokeness in this but really i saw more mentality of 60s culture in this than say 1979 where the story takes place. The sex scenes are very tame. Maxine / Pearl's final lines say it all. Something along the lines of the old woman being old, crazy and sex-crazed. Sure, was I expecting something more on the motivation aspects but this still worked for me as a slasher. Not very believable but felt like it is a fair homage to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
I get the revenge porn theme but there isn't anything in the film that really dictates it. The sex scenes are very tame. Maxine / Pearl's final lines say it all. If I rate this movie based on the trailer, wow great trailer, crappy movie. Some good stuff in it but that doesn't make it good just because. This movie really needed a writer that knows how to write movies and not short stories. 👽🤣🤷♂️🗑️
Was ok. It's basically a very stretched-out episode of some generic anthology sci-fi/horror series like a modern-day "Outer Limits" or "Twilight Zone." The tone was pretty good but there is a lot of things wrong with this movie to give it a good review. It's worth a watch but have real small expectations because NOTHING HAPPENS and that is all you get from this. Unfulfilled expectations which were established by a solid trailer.
There are some decent things in it. Choices made with how to film this/that -that made the movie stand out, expo and dialog, but how it comes together absolutely doesn't work for me. Like I said above. It feels like this was supposed to be 60 minutes for an anthology show but got scrapped and was stretched out to make a feature. This doesn't feel like a feature film or even made for cable.
The only thing that is missing are those plugin special effects that you would see in an Asylum production. If you have prime this is worth the freebee but I wouldn't pay to see this, not even $3.99. Sorry to the people who loved it. There are some decent stuff in it but this movie really needs a good script to draw from. What we got was a 60 minute short film stretched out to be an hour and 40 minutes of confusion. 👽🤣🤷♂️🗑️
This whole thing was executed wrong and sloppy and that is why it sort of doesn't make much sense on the narrative but that is what I took away from it too. She is a virgin this whole time. She longed for her long-lost love. They finally meet up as adults. A day or 2 later he passes in the accident. At that point, she has emotionally checked out. She immediately goes back into the jeep not being able to properly process his passing.
Since this is "sci/fi" they introduce cloning as an option with almost no real explanation as to why/how this is a thing in this low-tech narrative.
We could have used some visual clues that this is a technologically evolved society. Maybe like the teddy bear from AI. Something "advanced" to show us humans are very capable with tech but lack normal human skills like grieving a lover.
This movie really needed a Black Mirror and/or American Horror/touch to it and maybe a cohesive script...
This nearly 2-hour movie would have made a better 65-minute Black Mirror episode than a full-length foreign art film about the perversion of technology from grief. IDK... I can see how some might like it as an "art film." Me... Not so much... I have never been a fan of foreign filmmakers trying to have political commentaries about society touching on a possible American POV.
Not saying this movie was made strictly for Americans, it clearly isn't but it feels like they tried and with that failed miserably. That is why I said Black Mirror here. If they just would have stayed with the mental health aspects, the perversion of technology and more horror/thriller-based themes the movie might have been better than it actually was.
Now it just comes off as pretentious and morally/sexually sick. But some on here were very arrogant about wanting the film banned and whatnot. That isn't the dumbest thing I read on here in relation to the film lol. But it's whatever. It's a 10-11-year-old film now and they tend to talk about perverting tech with cloning all the time in films/shows now.
If it would have been more Black Mirror style this might have had a shot at being decent.

So... (Raises hand) Is anyone gonna talk about the movie at all or just throw coins at each other. Heads/Tails both are always right and always wrong at the exact same time LOL. I will watch that movie play itself out. Oh... We already have that, its called the news hahahaha. Both Fox and CNN just a different mask, same trashmonster.
The robot stuff was cool. Way better than what they tried to do with FINCH... That was a bust for me as well. But if they would have turned this robot stuff into that sort of where FINCH tried to do, it could have been much better. Yeah, you are probably right on your other point as well. That was what I got from the movie. Just too bad it built up to let me down that way but its all good. Some will like, love or neither.
I wouldn't mind seeing that. I thought he nailed the performance and was very funny. I am not an uber-fan but sometimes he does some great stuff like this...
Oh yeah, its bad, really bad and really technically bad. I feel like almost all the audio in the film, if you wanna call it a film, is overdubbed with sound effects and voiceovers. Roddy, tries. There are things he does to make me think he was trying to act in this but it is pretty bad. I did find some of the humor funny but the setups and delivery ruined it for me. If this was done as a serious scifi comedy it might have had a chance. Clearly all the money went to London/Pipper, this movie has no production value and ultimately that is what killed it for me.
