Yeah the film is just about okay. It’s well directed and atmospheric but it’s just not particularly entertaining and the screenplay feels very underbaked. It was only just okay I thought, as you said you don’t care about Bianca and that is a huge problem when her and The Jackal have about the same amount of screen time. The show also just feels like it was written as a limited series but they rewrote the finale to set up a second season instead. I might watch season 2 but I didn’t think the finale set up much of anything as a hook to get me to watch it. I don’t know why people are shocked by this, the animation is fantastic and high quality animation isn’t cheap. Across the Spider-Verse had a budget of $150 million and that’s a 140 minute film whereas this is a series that has a total running time exceeding 12 hours. It’s a shame for that money though they couldn’t get some good writing for season 2 instead of the mess we got. I’m fan of Eggers’ films and even I thought this is getting praised too much. My main problem with the film is that the title villain becomes increasingly less interesting with each appearance to the point where I was bored of him. That’s a huge mistake in my opinion and kind of ruins the film for me. I thought the last two Sonic films, Detective Pikachu and Gran Turismo were all entertaining but yeah this is definitely the best video game film yet. Way better than the Mario film from last year which just didn’t have the laughs at all and was purely aimed at kids. Probably best she wasn’t in it, the Robotniks and Shadow were the stars of this one. Maybe she’ll turn up in Sonic 4 Agreed, I thankfully saw this film for free and I only went because it was already confirmed to flop and the SSU was being scrapped. I don't know why Sony thought these films were a good idea, I really hope this film being panned and flopping doesn't deter Marvel Studios from using Kraven as a villain in a future Spider-Man movie because he truly is one of the best supervillains that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko ever created. It's such a dull, soulless and ultimately pointless film. I felt nothing whilst watching it so yeah it is a complete rush job to retain the rights. It also rehashes iconic moments from The Two Towers so you can tell it was a struggle to come up with anything original. Agreed, saw it last night for a laugh as it’s the last film in the SSU apparently. It’s really bad! Honestly worth watching just to see how bad a $100 million + budgeted Sony film can be in 2024. Obviously the screenplay is dreadful but the big surprise is how flat the directing is and how choppy the editing is. The editor seemed to use the worst takes as well, some of the line delivery, particularly from Ariana DeBose was hilariously bad! The directing is also lifeless but when your script is this bad even Spielberg couldn’t bring this crap to life. Also far too many characters, Kraven is off screen for far too long at times and the pacing is so sluggish with endless exposition. So yes, it really is as bad if not worse than Madame Web haha. I walked out after about 45 minutes, thankfully a friend of mine works in the cinema so I saw this for free but it truly is exactly what you said. Also really unfunny as well. Only just read now that it's written by Chris Morgan who also wrote 7 of the 11 Fast & Furious films. Don't get me wrong the Fast films can be fun trash thanks to the ridiculous action sequences but Red One was just actual trash. Critics said the same for Beetlejuice 2 and I thought it was a weak sequel. Only 3 legacy sequels have been made that are better than the original and they are Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner: 2049 and Top Gun: Maverick. I don’t expect Gladiator 2 to be as good or even better than the first but I hope it’s a much better legacy sequel than Beetlejuice 2. You’re not alone. How this is certified fresh on rotten tomatoes I have no idea, it’s such a soulless and boring film that goes knowhere interesting Certified cash-grab more like. The first film is bad bad This sequel is fun bad. There are far better modern slasher films out there such as X, Ready or Not, Thanksgiving and the Terrifier films but you can have a good enough time with Blood and Honey 2 I suppose. It is absolutely not and it's one of the worst comic book movie reboots ever made along with Hellboy (2019) and Fantastic Four (2015) This should have been a solid, low budget horror film like an Evil Dead film but with Hellboy but instead it's just a boring mess of a film from a mediocre director and a poor script. It isn't worth your time or money. I really hope this is the case, I really don't want his Venom in the MCU. I must admit I do quite like the lore and I think it’s worked out well so far for this franchise as Sienna has become one of the most likeable final girls in slasher history after only two films. I could watch many more Terrifier films if they keep Sienna battling Art and adding some new things to the lore each time, as long as the films don’t get bogged down in it with endless exposition then I’m cool with it. Just seen it and I’d say it’s the best one yet. Less lore and more gore, tighter pacing and the Christmas setting juxtaposes nicely with the horrific things happening on screen. David Howard Thornton is once again fantastic as Art the Clown and Lauren LaVera‘s Sienna is still a great final girl to root for. Overall if you enjoyed the first two you’ll surely enjoy this one. 1/10 Todd Phillips totally misjudged the fact that when you make a film to subvert audience expectations (like The Last Jedi or the final season of Game of Thrones) there will be huge backlash now thanks to how quickly word of mouth can spread online. Instead of making a natural continuation of the character from the first film we had this uninteresting, contrived, expectation-subverting borefest. Subverting expectations is the worst storytelling technique, it’s not clever and just pisses off your audience that paid to see your movie because you’re basically trolling them. Thankfully Todd Phillips has had his own expectations subverted as his movie has been rightfully panned by critics and audiences alike and bombed at the box office. He somehow managed to make a worse sequel than his own The Hangover Part 3 and I won’t go see any of his future films, anyone that trolls their audience is not someone I want to support. Yeah, all I could think of was Terminator Genisys but the anticipation for that wasn't as high as Joker 2, although Arnie returning to the franchise did get fans excited. The trailer however spoiled a big twist and also you could kinda tell it was going to be a crappy cash-grab. Joker 2 had good trailers but the buzz was numbed a bit when people started finding out it was a musical. Somehow it's 'fresh' but absolutely deserves to be rotten along with those other films you mentioned.
