I will no longer watch or support any movies that have Matt Damon in them due to his involvement with this movie. I don't care about his beliefs or political views, but this movie was so bad that I refuse to support anyone involved with this. To have such a promising premise and toss it down the garbage in favor of political agenda was just wrong. What a bait-and-switch they did. And I'm disappointed because I LOVED Crash Pad (directed by Kevin Tent, editor of this movie). That movie was hilarious. But this movie...just fell off the rails after the middle act.
But I will admit, Elysium was awesome :)
GOLD!!!!! Someone needs to bring this to his attention. Wow! LOL!
Great find
"Hell--his dumb supporters will bring up Trump in Avengers Infinity War topics, book topics--anything."
While I do agree (and find it annoying), the same can be said about those who dont support him. I cant help but cringe a little when Im reading about a movie set in the 80s only to be criticized for its non-feminist, chauvinistic dialog promoted by Pres. Trump. Like... really?
I look at this section more like an off-topic, side-bar, political appetizer. Im here mostly for the movies, but cant help but chime in now and again here on the Trump board.
Originally, I wanted to start a "Favorite Trump Cameo" thread, but instead saw something far more amusing, which is this strange animal called the Donald Trump forum.
But, I do find it interesting when I see that some users only post in the Trump section... on a movie forum site. But, thats their right. Im also part of other self-contained political boards, but this one is fun with the stereotypical caricatures from both sides of the left/right spectrum.
I thought they were going to end up together as well. It was a little awkward and rude how he just kind of left after she confessed to liking him. His face of disgust lol I guess that was just the character
Samson was a very proud person who did dumb things. Totally canon with how his character is described in the Bible.
I loved the movie and the concept. I appreciated the possibility that the alien had no intentions or agenda, it was just simply being. Really loved that aspect. Great special effects, sound effects, etc... everything was top notch.
The glowing thing at the end paired with the music was dazzling and hypnotic. Loved this movie, despite Natalie Portman.
Cool cool. Thanks for passing on this info. Love the free movies :)
No, I read it. But I still stand by what I wrote. Maybe I should have clarified me bringing in the main media's narrative along with the OP. That's my mistake.
Why would I want to say something bad about blacks when I myself am black? Doesn't make sense, Frogarama. Again, if you have a better example Id be happy to use it instead.
EDIT: You know, come to think if it, my first complaint that I posted on these forums was that the left injected race into mostly everything. Now, I realize i may be stepping into said territory and inching towards being hypocritical. I understand the call out and sincerely appreciate it.
With more facts like this, they should.
"I'M Castor Troy!!!"
Predators felt more like fan-fic. I understand they were going for homages, but the movie hit you with them at every turn...
I thought it was a good movie, but not as good as Predator 2. The subway scene itself was better than the entirety of Predators.
It was chauvinistic the same way a movie about black slaves would be racist. As someone who was born and raised in the 80s/90s, Id say this was very accurate. Should they have abandoned the accuracy in favor of today's political flavor of the month? What would you have changed about it?
UV, you've never made me upset, even when you revealed your bigotry. Regarding the trans conversation we were having, I reached the point where I knew you were looking to argue, as you resorted to name calling, so I did what Id do in real life, and left. But to answer yout question, the woman in that picture should use the lady's room. Not so hard, since she's a she, after all.
When I reply with gratitude and dont have anything else to add, its because I don't. When someone shows me my own error and is able to articulate why Im wrong, I concede. What else would I have to offer if I agree, especially if Im wrong?
Im here, number 1, to talk about movies. Number 2, to broaden my horizons and exit the echo-chamber I put myself in.
As for people not being respectful, why should I responde when they obviously dont want to help me? I guess thats reason number 3; to learn what others have to say and to ask for help for information I have a hard time gathering.
I try to conduct myself online as I would in real life. If someone is being rude and disrespectful, Im not going to resort to 5th grade tactics. So, I walk away.
EDIT: In regards to daddy's replies (since you brought it up), s/he's constantly trying derail my original question and instead would rather straw-man. I dont answer his/her question(s) if it has nothing to do with the question I originally asked for the sake of staying on topic. The irony here is that Im completely off topic in my own thread. BUT, you brought up some legit concerns, so I thought id try to answer.
Lol good for him. Good read.
How dare you, Frog! What in THE WORLD is wrong with eating at McDonalds!?
Please tell me how you think I was taking a cheap shot at the black community. In 2015, it was reported that over 75% of black households were fatherless. Would you say that the black community is in the greatest shape today? What other example should I have used instead where there arent as many fatherly figures present? I would really like to know and I am open to being corrected with facts and data.
Thanks, Frogarama.
That's a funny article. The narrative of promoting weakness and condemning the strong always boggled my mind. If you want to see what a society looks like without strong, male, fatherly figures, just look at the black community :(
It's important to have balance in everything, but this demand for men to apologize for being strong and masculine is ridiculous.
UV, others on here were able to be honest, open, and intelligent enough to have swayed my general opinion about politics and The Pres, genuinely. Others were able to have civil discourse which in turn allowed me to better understand their respective points of view.
You, on the other hand, contribute to the stigma of bad social commentary. Ive tried to have a genuine, open, civil discussion with you, but you resort to ad hominems, then go back and re-edit past posts to further manipulate. To top it off, youre racist enough to think that blacks cannot have my political output and/or beliefs, therefor denying me my own nationality of being black.
UV, youre the epitome of what is further dividing people into a black/white way of thinking and intentionally ignore those of us living in the grey.
I put a lot of effort and time into communicating with others on this board to have a better grasp and understanding of differing points of views. With that said (and assuming you dont care), I will only communicate with those who are open and genuine to having a civil conversation. I will always read what you have to say, but i'll reserve my time and respond to only those who want to make a difference.
