You're talking about a case that happened damn near 50 years ago, look I agree that several years ago, rape and murder wasn't taken as serious as it is now, and yes a few serial killers were freed back then, however, laws and society in general have grown more tougher especially on crimes against women and children so I can assure you in the time frame of the movie dude wouldn't have been given the chance of ever seeing the light of day again.

Geez it's just a freaking movie dude, If I wanted I could complain that minorities are vastly under represented in these movies, I just enjoy it for what it is; a movie driven in fantasy not social commentary.
