Get your suspension of belief mindset ready for this one...

There's no way in hell any prosecutor in the entire country would have did a plea bargain with a confessed serial killer - at best the only bargain would have been life without the possibility of parole instead of the death penalty.

Exactly how did they know what time the transport was leaving? This information is highly guarded for obvious reasons.

So their entire plan hinged on the transport driver stopping to get coffee? What if they got coffee already? Driver didn't drink coffee?

I hate to disappoint you, but prosecutors would and have made deals with serial killers. I believe the movie was Canadian. In Canada, a serial killer made a deal for a 12 year sentence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karla_Homolka

You're talking about a case that happened damn near 50 years ago, look I agree that several years ago, rape and murder wasn't taken as serious as it is now, and yes a few serial killers were freed back then, however, laws and society in general have grown more tougher especially on crimes against women and children so I can assure you in the time frame of the movie dude wouldn't have been given the chance of ever seeing the light of day again.

No, she was born 50 years ago. The crimes were 20 to 30 years ago. There are other more recent cases, like the “affluenza boy” who was responsible for 4 deaths (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_Couch). I wish you were correct, but I am not convinced. Plenty of people get off shockingly easy from major crimes.

We should always be ready to suspend our belief when watching movies. They are made primarily to entertain. They are not factual documentaries.

The movie has one of the worst and most obvious twists of all time.
