I think they shot themselves in the foot with the "Fantastic Beasts" tag - the fantastic beasts were the worst part of this movie, because they had a decent story to tell besides that. Those dancing crab thingies and that inflatable bird and the deer, all seem forced because the title had fantastic beasts in it.

Most people who watch MCU movies are not comic book readers. IF MCU was restricted to a majority of comic book readers, then it would never have achieved the kind of success it did.

Fair point. I will say that the trailers of his movies always look great visually and definitely pique my interest when they come out. I always ended up giving him the benefit of the doubt, that he will deliver something spectacular based on the trailer. And almost always, it ends up disappointing me. Final nail was BvS - so fortunately I did not have any expectations from JL or SnyderCut, and even then those movies disappointed to an extent.
Tried watching his latest zombie movie because I got suckered in by an interesting trailer. Stopped around the 30 min mark because the obvious snyder flaws were extremely visible and the much hyped opening sequence was just bland AF

Where does it say songs were pretentious? The choice of the songs was though - trying to portray some depth and emotion which clearly was missing from the movie

If anything, they gave him too much leeway and spectacularly dismantled DCEU to which he contributed a LOT

Problem is you stop being cool the moment you try to be cool
For a superhero team up movie, Snyder's JL barely had any superhero team up moments. Half the time one superhero was giving the other one a kickstart or a lift.
That's where the movie failed the most. It never lived up to the big expectations of the final action set pieces. And this is where Avengers scored the most - the team up action was beautifully choreographed
Hitler was the worst of the lot. PERIOD
At the same time, Imperialist forces were pretty horrible as well as they went around the world with their expansionist regime destroying thriving nations and kingdoms by looting the resources and subjugating the natives and locals
In terms of terribleness, it would go something like

Its like a bad joke right? The worst kind of jokes are the ones which you have to further spend time on explaining
If you need to add another 2 hours on what was originally a 2 hour movie to make sense of it, then there is something seriously wrong with the skills of the people involved. Obviously it is going to be more coherent and have better character development because you now have twice the amount of time to build it - that is the LEAST one can expect from Snyder Cut. And honestly, this has 5 main characters and a couple of villains right? Do you really need 4+ hours to setup a story for them? It just sounds like bad scripting and editing skills
And at the same time you cannot blame the studio for having asked for a 2 - 2.5 hr movie because a CBM hoping to crack a billion dollars cannot be set at 4hr runtime - it would just eat up into the revenue with fewer shows and alienate out a major movie going populace.
Maybe they could have split it up in two parts and that would have helped a bit

This is hilarious stuff. They are hyping it up as if its something the whole world has been waiting for with bated breath. When in reality, the only people remotely excited would be the minor group of Snyder fans who asked for it.
Its a 70M$, 2 hour longer, shinier turd - with improved toppings and denser hold
And a layer of perfume to make it tolerable a wee bit longer. But like all turds, it will rot with time if you hold on to it for too long.
