Peter O'Toole Cary Grant Alan Rickman Bill Nighy Colin Firth Sarah Silverman Jesus Is Magic Tres mellow. Thanks. I'm curious. The majority of films you have chosen are consensus, iconic, landmark films. Don't you have any lesser regarded films that you would really rather see than those listed? Some of my favorites are films that have been universally panned(The Man From Uncle, Popeye, and dare I say The Lone Ranger) but I would rather be stuck with those than films that were highly regarded by the experts. But I'm in the minority. A reasonable man. I love that old timey stuff. Like I said in my post, I was introduced to much of that via Woody Allen films. TY. 24/7 That is unknown. I believe the club remodeling was planned. I may be incorrect. The fact that the driver did not act in a rational way diminished any suspense for me. I thought it was stupid, unreal. But I realize I am in the minority and I'm happy that it spoke to you. I have hated that film since I saw it back in 1971. They made many they superior films during that tv time slot...Tribes and The Point come to mind. Really.... I imagine he was born gay or bi, and the film portrayed this as the first time he acted on it... the film is "based in reality" so I would not take the scene with the trucker literally. Although maybe the first time away from UK he felt free to act on this impulse. I realize the significance of Duel so I am in the minority, but I absolutely hated it. It reminded me of a Road Runner cartoon where instead of just stepping to the side to avoid a falling tree, the coyote would run lengthwise only to be flattened by the forest. There were so many times the character could have chosen a wiser, more logical path to break off from the crazy truck driver. At one time, as I recall, they were BOTH in a cafe away from their vehicles. He could have called the police to avoid further entanglements. Hate that film and it turned out to be iconic in it's own way. MY Top 20 films(most of which you would identify as guilty pleasures rather than cultural icons): 1) Local Hero 2)Lawrence of Arabia 3)When Brendan Met Trudy 4)Manhattan 5)Fandango 6)Green Book 7)Whiplash 8)Three Musketeers 9)Modern Romance 10)Rushmore 11)Scott Pilgrim 12)LaLa Land 13)Easy A 14)Sing Street 15)Silverado 16)The Philadelphia Story 17)StuntMan 18)Superbad 19)Love Among the Ruins 20)Shakespeare in Love Quality v. Quantity! I would if it was like Jim Rockford of Rockford Files. He lived in a trailer next to the beach. The sequel was embarrassingly awful. However the same director made my favorite film of all time, Local hero. Comfort and Joy was sweet also. Gregory's Girl for sure!! Neighbors also a personal favorite. Love the way they cast Belushi in the timid role and Ackroyd over the top. Given the culmination of this film involving a very special Christmas dinner I believe Green Book qualifies and celebrated in the category of Xmas movies. Green Book This is a comedy that contains many references to other films and a decent soundtrack. When Brendan Met Trudy....
