Gregory's Girl for sure!! Neighbors also a personal favorite. Love the way they cast Belushi in the timid role and Ackroyd over the top.

reply

Neighbors is great, Underlooked in my opinion. Yep Gregory's Girl is a gem, The sequel was a bit of a let down though.

reply

The sequel was embarrassingly awful. However the same director made my favorite film of all time, Local hero. Comfort and Joy was sweet also.

reply

Comfort and Joy is a good one, always a bonus to see Bill Paterson as well. His dentist did look like George C Scott too πŸ‘

reply

I consider Superman 2 to be a 1980 film since it was released in europe in some parts and in Japan in 1980.

reply

No worries, I was going to put Das Boot in but it never came out until the following year in the U.S

reply

Amazingly, I've never seen any of those but two of them. I just looked at my IMDb ratings and I've only seen two movies from 1981. Or at least, only two movies which I've rated on IMDb; it's possible I've seen others before I had my account, and never rated them.

The two were:
Das Boot (9/10)
Time Bandits (6/10)

Time Bandits is one that I just happened to run across while channel-surfing in the middle of the night. It was good, not great but good light entertainment. Das Boot of course was excellent.

Edit:
I just remembered, I have seen On Golden Pond. I saw it when I was a kid, before I had an IMDb account, so I never rated it. That was a good movie.
