I get that he had summoned his strength again but he bitch-slapped Vader far too easily. I was surprised they placed the Neesom cameo where they did. It would have made more sense if he saw him when he was under the rubble and THAT vision inspired a return to strength.
But instead, he kicked his ass without really breaking a sweat.
It didn't really feel earned.
Yes in part 2 of their duel he bested Vader way too easy. Vader is at the peak of his power here, and Kenobi isn't suppose to be nearly as powerful. I'm going to say Kenobi caught Vader off guard. Vader had just utterly whipped him earlier so perhaps he doesn't see Kenobi as a true potential threat, and he's fighting with the the intent to humiliate him than straight up kill him. Vader is arrogant and underestimated his opponent. I still say Vader beats Kenobi 9 times out of 10

He trained Anakin, so he not only knows pretty much everything Anakin/Vader knows....but surely also still has a few extra tricks up his sleeve. Plus, he may have gotten lucky with that strike to Vader's breathing mechanism, which clearly at that point compromised his ability to fight at full strength.
Plus, as has been made evident in past fights and sparring sessions, Vader's weakness when fighting is....his anger and his need to win at all costs....clouds his judgement.

At full power, yes Obi-Wan should beat Vader, but the show tells us he's not at that level anymore. He simply gets his mojo back after being crushed by rubble. Why? That was the moment Neesom should have shown up as a ghost to inspire him, something.
Instead, the sudden recovery of his mojo was unearned.
That's why.
So he's not allowed to regain his mojo? How do you know Vader has "spent the same period becoming an unstoppable monster who can beat Jedi's one-handed". That wasn't in the show, or any movie prior to it.

And if Obi-Wan was inspired by Luke and Leia why has he spent ten years turning into a couch potato? He's living in a cave so that he can protect Luke. But how does he intend to do that if he's let himself go?

Bullshit. You don't know who she has or hasn't murdered. She's a recent addition to the Inquisitors.
He's been staying hidden for ten years. Chose to conceal his talents for Luke's sake and not attract the kind of attention that lead to the other Jedi on Tatooine being hunted down and killed by the inquisitors. Losing his mojo was a consequence of that. He wasn't expecting to have to go on any missions. You expecting everything to be straightforward, hunky dory, easy?
If only he could have trained in private to ensure his skills weren't rusty should he need to, you know, protect Luke.
Reeva literally murders people in the show.
Who do we see her murder?
She throws a knife in the face of a civilian to expose a Jedi.
She cuts an old woman's hand off.
She murders Wade.
Plus she personally orders the storm troopers to 'take them down' when they enter the rebel base.
She's been with the inquisitors for a while. I think we can safely assume she wasn't just making sandwiches.

It really is. Typical Kathleen Kennedy approved decision to have Obi-Wan lose his mojo as well like Luke in The Last Jedi.
It all creates fake suspense as well. Oh no Leia is falling, I just hope Obi-Wan is still able to use the force to save her in time!
Obi-Wan should have been a badass in this show and this show should have been a film with much better writing. The whole show just seems like an afterthought to boost Disney + subscribers.

shareI think it makes sense that he whipped Vader. Vader is still young in experience compared to Obi, and he's extremely clouded by emotion and anger which is detrimental to a Jedi. He can't be a true disciple of The Force until he goes and gets him some Kolinar or something. Purge some of those emotions. Even Palpatine sensed he didn't have his shit together.

If you rewatch all three fights: 1) Mustafar 2) Obi-Wan show duel 3) Luke fight in Empire Strikes Back
You see that Vader is very consistent in his fighting mentality across all three. Arrogant, boastful, and confident at the beginning, and then letting his rage and emotion get the better of him each and every time.
The only difference in Empire Strikes Back compared to the other two fights is that Luke is a novice and not very good, but still manages to get in a lucky attack against Vader on a part of his armor protecting what little of him that's still flesh and bone. After that point Vader goes absolutely ballistic, lets his rage take over and within three rage-induced moves levels the pylons and cuts off Luke's hand. In his fight against Obi-Wan it was always his over-confidence that proved to be his downfall.
His benefit and drawback has always been his emotions, and they at least kept that consistent throughout the series.

shareI certainly would have handled things differently. Obi-Wan has really never dealt properly with the Dark Side and felt the awesome power of it. This whole show was a dumb idea but it was an opportunity for Obi-Wan to finally experience the raw ass whooping of what properly harnessed Dark Side energy can really do. It should have beaten the shit out of him, scared the willies out of him, and made him understand how desperately he needed to keep Luke the hell away from this guy. My story of Obi-Wan would have been one of endless losses and retreat. He's not the winner anymore. He's constantly losing ground and hedging all his bets on Luke. In my fan fiction, he forges uneasy alliances with the Hutts to keep them in power and keep the Empire from nosing around on Tatooine. Always sacrificing himself and his values toward the greater good. It's not about the greatest Jedi that ever lived kicking ass and taking names. It's about his erosion. It's about his ultimate embracing of faith in the throes of total loss. But. They wanted to make it cool. I get it.
