Have any of you actually read the book?

It seems like most of you guys are concerned with this being a remake of the room with other actors and that's not really it.

You guys are saying things like "Josh is playing Denny and Zac is playing Chris R."

The movie is not just a remake, nor is it even a behind the scenes of the room. It's about Greg and Tommy's friendship.

The fact that someone has been cast as Iris Burton proves that the film will follow the book's structure of switching timeframes between 1999 and 2003.

I just think a lot of people are really wrong about what this movie is.

Love the book. I've read it twice now. I really hope Franco can pull it off. I have my doubts, but I'm still stoked and will definitely be at the theatres for this.

I'd prefer if they focused more on the behind the scenes stuff than the movie... I've seen the movie. I thought the book was hilarious. I got it as a book on tape per a friends suggestion because Greg's Tommy impression is nearly perfect.

I agree. The best we can hope for is that it fillows the book very closely. I'm hoping that will include the dual narrative timelines as well, as that was an effective device in the book. The title change is a shame, but I hold out hope that the movie itself is true to the book.

Read it and loved it.

I'm willing to hold judgement until I see it. My one fear is if James Franco makes the movie a comedy.

The book has funny moments as does "The Room", but the book contains a lot of down, sad, depressing and downright creepy moments (such as finding out Tommy was recording Greg's phone calls or when Greg has a friend show up unannounced causing friction between him and Tommy). There is a lot of sadness learning how Tommy is very much alone and values Greg as a friend (in his unique way). Reading the book and then watching the movie gives it a whole new perspective of what was going on.

If it just shows "The Room" being made, or if it concentrates just on the humor, I will be very disappointed.

Yup I've read it, loved it, big fan of the room madness too, screenings are epic, can't wait to see what Franco n co do with this adaptation

I have read the book and listened to the audio book, narrated by Greg Sestero. I highly recommend listening to the audio book if you get a chance, Greg makes it very entertaining. My family and I saw Tommy at a Room screening in San Diego last year and he signed the book for my daughter. Before he signed it he held the book up and said (paraphrasing): "If you need some toilet paper here is something for you."

I read the book in about 2 hours, I couldn't put it down. It was so fascinating, can't wait for the film! I hope it gets a set release date soon.

Read the book and really enjoyed it. Folks at the coffee shop would be asking what I was reading as I would often break out laughing.
