IMDb has really screwed up. I don't do SM so won't have a way to talk to other board users. Grrrrrr Please everyone complain to IMDb and maybe they'll change their minds.

As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb’s message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb’s message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.

Increasingly, IMDb customers have migrated to IMDb’s social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with IMDb’s editors and one another. IMDb’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/imdb) have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (https://www.snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr (http://imdb.tumblr.com/).

Because IMDb’s message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users, we announced our decision to disable our message boards on February 3, 2017 but will leave them open for two additional weeks so that users will have ample time to archive any message board content they’d like to keep for personal use. During this two-week transition period, which concludes on February 19, 2017, IMDb message board users can exchange contact information with any other board users they would like to remain in communication with (since once we shut down the IMDb message boards, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to one another). We regret any disappointment or frustration IMDb message board users may experience as a result of this decision.

We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities.

This is horrible! I've been here for a decade I think. I hate that message boards are dying out! I'm looking at Andorra's suggestion, as well as Reddit. They have an Outlander subreddit, as well as ones for a ton of other shows/actors/movies. I'm silverandcold65, shadedgrey63, or AudaciousKili on social media/message boards.

I've been through this when Oxygen shut down their boards/forums. Us Xena fans moved to Whoosh's ezBoards, which is now Yuku. I have boards on Yuku, Proboards, & Runboard. I can create a board for the IMDb posters here, or someone else can.

If you need a temporary site to hang out at until you can figure out where you want to go, you can hang out at Whoosh's sites, or my sites, and continue discussing your options.

This board linked below is an archive, it was the original board before moving again to Proboards, but you can check it out to see if you'd like a Yuku board. They have chatrooms. I have a Yuku board of my own just for chatrooms, but use my Runboard & Proboards boards for discussions.

I agree, I belong to a Facebook NYC Outlander fan group! Just New York City area stuff like get togethers, we post pictures and information about where the Cast etc appear during premiere time. we can call it the former IMdb outlander group... or something like that! that would keep the trolls out OR identify the trolls...

I'm not on Facebook and have no interest in joining. There are other TV/Movie/Social message boards. If you want to talk about Outlander, you will be able to find what you want from one of those boards. No need to morph yourself to fit some other social platform and frankly, IMDB will be worse off for this.

Yeah. I use them, but you can get nowhere near discuss shows on them as we do here, especially with Twitter's 140 character cap.

Nice knowing you all. I don't know if I'll get on other sites, but I'm on reddit. I don't interact much in it, as I don't find the conversations interesting. I mostly start a post and leave it there.
So, it's probably goodbye from me, unless I decide to get on this site Andorra suggested.

I can't believe they are shutting down so quickly! I know, there's three pages of all this, as I'm late to this particular party, but eek!

I'll miss you all so much, and this place. If we can keep our discussions going elsewhere, count me in. I'll check out the google group, and I hope that others will come along too. I can't imagine season three finally starting without us all here to get excited about it, especially as for so many it is a favourite book.

I'm not into facebook, twitter et al, but if we can have a discussion board, or find one that will have us and the things we like to discuss, that would be great.

The Outlander Google Group is up and running. We're still working out the glitches, but I think we'll be able to transition pretty easily.

Somebody started an "imdb" forum, people are migrating there. Could start an Outlander thread there too, under the TV Talk-Current Shows.

HBO did away with its message board, too. Ten years ago, it was like the wild West! Very contentious, devolving into threats in people's real lives and lawsuits between posters. I can see why companies are doing away with them. The general public is full of asshats!
